I know it seems silly, but with game day coming and a marquee matchup like Georgia it seems appropriate to checkerboard the stadium.
Provide the atmosphere for the cameras and hopefully add to the home field advantage.
I think it’s time!
GO VOLS!

I remember checkering TBA in 2006 but just barely, UK got their depends all bent out of shape. But only the 9th time checkering Neyland, thought we had done it more than that.

I was there for the first checker neyland. I remember people filing in and thinking "wow we're actually going to do it!"

Funny...can't find the thread now...but when the Checker Neyland game was announced as UGA a few months ago, there were folks on here losing their stuff saying "why would we pick that game" "we should pick a game we have a chance at winning" "why georgia"...same people now saying this is the game that needs to be the checker game 🤣🤣🥰

Football started doing it after we went to Norman and seen Oklahoma stripe their stadium against UT.

Now that's a nice memory to have. Several schools have promotional events, Penn State with their "White Out", etc. but nothing, absolutely nothing I've seen compares to Checker Neyland.

Thought about that last night during the OU-Michigan game. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and last night those stripes didn't work and doesn't look as special as Checker Neyland.

IU tries to do the stadium stripe thing as an homage to the basketball team.

They are as superstitious in basketball about the striped warmup pants as we are with the VOLS atop Neyland.

The checkerboard will always look better since it's a broken pattern and easier to discern if the borders are "fuzzy"...much harder to do that with stripes so it doesn't look as good.

Or I could just be a little biased 😁
