Not necessarily a new article, but just wanted to know some other viewpoints on this. I've always thought using a strategy guide takes away from the overall experience. It's much more enjoyable to find things on your own IMO.

What Type of Game Cheater Are You?

What does everyone else constitute as cheating?

play through once on your own, use cheats and guide to find stuff/do stuff you didnt do on your first go round. I might look up how to get past something if I'm stuck.

Well just on the subject of strategy guides I enjoy them just in case you could've missed something that you wouldn't have found playing without one. I played KOTOR with a strategy guide and it wasn't necessary but I liked it. I used an online strategy guide for Oblivion and I found that pretty necessary. I didn't mind playing Mass Effect without a guide.

Strategy guides are a waste of money unless they come with storyboards and whatnot. The only strategy guide I have ever owned was the one for Shadow of the Collosus, which my sister bought for me. I do, however, use online ones when I'm stuck.

That stuff is immoral and unacceptable. They should be banned permanently.

Would someone please explain to me why they make strategy guides for sports games?

I saw the Madden guide the other day and just wondered who the hell buys that.

Gives you all the players ratings and in-depth team crap. It's worthless.

I dont have a problem with idiot spending their money on stategy guides, but the glitchers should be taken out in the street and shot. It is sad that these people value being ranked higher so bad that they take all the fun out of the game.

I bought a strategy guide for Final Fantasy XII. Not really necessary, but the game is so vast, the SG really helps.

I don't play any online games, but I do make sure my kids don't use cheats unless they're just goofing around. Halo had some great glitches.

I very rarely cheat. Only times I do are when I'm absolutely stuck for days on one part or when I'm goofing off after beating the game (like GTA cheats).

The only strategy guides I have ever bought were for the GTA games, and not so much for help with missions, but mainly becuase there is just so much hidden content in those games that I would never possibly find on my own. Also, I always try to play through the GTA game missions without any cheats the first time, but once I complete all the missions, the cheats are pretty fun for going a rampage, like on San Andreas, when you would have 6 stars, and the cops were after you, no problem, just drop in a tank for yourself.

I didn't know about this until yesterday, but apparently many games have specifically modded controllers for them that allows one to kind of "turbo shoot" more accurately, automatically hold your breath when zoomed in COD4 type stuff, etc.

That really ticks me off. If you google around for modded controllers, you'll see what I am talking about. Now every time I see a guy firing a pistol as fast as a minigun in COD4 I am going to wonder.

I did as well. Not because I don't want to work for it, but because I just don't have the time that I used to. My priorities have shifted some.

Yea, I could sit there for 3 hours figuring out the puzzle. Or I could look it up and do it in 10 minutes. The extra 2.9 hours is worth it to me and I won't enjoy the game any less.

Although I still put something like 140 hours total in it after collecting all the weapons/items/ect, which is my most of any FF games I think.

I used to play America's Army online. Was an awesome game from 2003-2005. Never liked cheaters or map exploiters.

Did cheating ever become a problem on COD4? I played it online for a few months, but never noticed much in the way of cheaters.
