Chaz Coleman status?

Apologies if previously mentioned, but NFL teams do an insane amount of research in a guy before they draft him. The interviews alone are very high pressure. It’s not just about stats and film. If he’s staying off the field because of “issues he’s working through” NFL has already taken note. He’s hurting his draft prospects.

Please get on the field young man and use your issues as tackling fuel.

Just my 2 cents.
Yea the titans thoroughly vetted Isaiah Wilson

So how does that work? Coleman withdraws at UT and enrolls at OSU and is eligible at OSU next season? How do they handle the contract/deal with UT? Damages? I'd assume there would be since we lose an edge that can't be replaced for next season....or can we do the same? When does the madness end?
So he's homesick in Tennessee, but wouldn't be homesick in Columbus? I'd say cut slingload.

100%. What's he gonna do in the NFL when he ends up with the Arizona Cardinals as example? Maybe he just ends up working for the local post office.
A. Not be 19.
B. Have a contract that fines him for missing team functions.

You want these young athletes to be pros when they're young, then let's do it. Let the Vols go fully pro, draft their players or pick them up from free agency, deal with the player's union, etc, etc.

You people can't be pleased. "I hate how college has become like pro ball ....... but why can't this guy act like a pro?"

The last thing we need is a head case in the locker room. If he ain't happy, pay for his airfare out of Knoxville. Pay the NIL back or sue for it, as other schools have won in court. We only want players that are 100% committed and want to be at Tennessee. Mic drop
You won't be thinking that when he's playing at OSU for another natty

We're probably not gonna be friends lol. Interesting to know if NIL contracts have actual on field performance clauses or if it's other stuff. I'm definitely not a Beatles fan either:)

NIL by rule cannot have field performance goals. I'm not sure about the "school based revenue sharing" contracts but that would mean the NCAA has given up on trying to keep the courts from declaring players professional athlete employees of the school and not "student athlete amateurs."

As employees of the State of Tennessee, I think the Vols and several other NCAA teams will face legal challenges from taxpayers who don't want to own a pro franchise and it's possibly already illegal for the State to own a pro franchise.

As for The Beatles, there's a very very good chance you're a fan of musicians who ARE big fans of The Beatles.

That's good information. I'm probably more old school in expecting people to simply fulfil their obligations in a reasonable fashion. Like paying taxes, keeping a nice yard and doing the right thing. Sure there are instances where those things don't get done due to illness or whatever but it's seeming more nefarious in this case.

I'm a huge music buff...the Beatles never appealed for some reason. Zep, Black Sabbath, even Deep Purple are some favs I'm sure are fans of the Beatles and attribute their roots to them but I just can't. They're like mayo, I just can't do it.

I'm old and old school but that's not where college athletics is and my issue is that it's not the players who created this mess.

Chaz Coleman simply grew up gifted and folks offered him money to play. Good for him, in my mind, and whatever issues he's having aren't field related, it seems, and most of life is off the field not on it..... so I want the young man's life to be okay more than I want him to play football. It's that simple for me as someone who has comforted people who "tough loved" their kids who ended up taking their life because they felt so alone. Football isn't my only concern for Chaz Coleman and I doubt it's Josh Heupel and UT's only concern also.

As for music, there's just so much that The Beatles, The Beach Boys (Brian Wilson really,) and Dylan DID to open doors which is why they gain the respect from me.

However, Dylan can't sing a lick, The Beatles were too selfish to last as a band, and Brian dropped WAAAAAAAAY too much acid to stay viable. Imperfect, for sure.

We mentioned his name many times previous comments. One “he” is Basilio. The other “he” the subject of the thread
So you expect everyone to read ten pages before they can understand who you are talking about with he, he, he, he? Nevermind. I do not want to go through that so I'll use the ignore feature.

lol.
If I see a post thats a reply/quote or another post and I need context, I’ll click on the post it’s responding to and that helps me solve the mystery. You will never see this, though, because you hit me with the dreaded “ignore” button. I don’t know how I’ll get through this.

Well we reportedly paid this kid over 3 million dollars which is more than the AVG NFL DE makes. I am not sure y u are defending him so much when he is the one whom agreed to come here in the 1st place. The homesick stuff is BS he went to Penn State which isn't exactly close to his home either.

Like it or Not when someone makes that kind of money there is a responsibility attached to it and a reasonable expectation of keeping his word. He's an adult now regardless so it's a bad look on his part. Oh yeah let's pity the 19 yr old who is making more in 6 months of playing a game then most people make in there lifetimes. Not to mention at a time when most families in East Tennessee and across the country are struggling pay check to pay check. Yeah sorry IDGAF. I traveled all over the country from 18-32 working on the road making money.

I CHOSE to do so, just as he chose to sign the NIL deal which is him giving his word to do all he is supposed to do as a player at UT. Tired of people defending his actions as if it's ok to go back on ur word. Part of the reason society is so screwed now is bcuz of people like that thinking they can do we they want wo consequences.

The fact he hasn't been dismissed from the team means the coaches understand something you and I don't have enough info to understand.

He's not just saying "I'm not coming to practice and you can't make me so just pay me and leave me alone" or he'd be dismissed from the team. Something is up with the young man that isn't just him being a slacker.

If he'd hurt his leg or arm or whatever, you'd not be pissed at him for not practicing but because something is apparently up that isn't a "I can see him limping" or "he's in a boot" or "that's a cast on his hand" you're pissed off.

Something else is wrong that you and I don't have the full info on and it's probably a psych issue of some type. I know, I know, I know, "man up and tough it out because I did 2 tours in 'Nam or I hit the road for work at 18....."

As for the money, I'm sorry you're pissed that people have gifts that earn them more money than you. I can't help that you haven't learned that life isn't 100% and everyone doesn't get an equal shot.

So be bitter that you're not gifted, I guess, and be thankful that you're"mentally tougher" than Coleman. You certainly sound happy and well adjusted, eh?

All players don’t get paid more than anyone else on their side of the ball either. If you’re going to make someone your highest paid player, it’s retarded to choose a diva. Everyone knew Nico and Boo were divas before they got here. It wasn’t a secret
That’s what I said! Nico and Boo were head cases. My comment is that there’s lots of successfull recruits! As far as know, Chaz wasn’t a head case. Maybe he was ,and I never was aware. But I will say this, all teams have them. Being Vol fans ours are more scrutinized . My point also was 18 year old players in this NIL and transfer portal have too many people influencing them. I believe coaches attempt to make informed decisions. Occasionally they may take a chance. Sometimes it works, it don’t. We may disagree, but we are one family. GBO

This is most likely the crux of the matter. I've seen this before. A kid is a gifted athlete, and he becomes very successful early on. Things come easy in HS and expectations arrive. College opportunities present and the commitment/work/environment changes. Pressures and expectations begin to escalate. While the kid enjoyed the success and attention, he didn't truly "love" the game he was playing. It's what came from playing the game that he really enjoyed. At this new level, his heart just isn't in it and he finds no way out despite just not wanting to play anymore. Caught between his desires and the expectations/demand of friends, parents and coaches, depression and hopelessness come. Sometimes, smart and observant folks step in to help. Sometimes, people around that athlete ignore the obvious and they continue pushing. That can lead to tragic outcomes. My advice is for his parents to intervene and find out what the kid really wants to do. Forget the money. Forget the fame. Just figure out what the kid wants and let him be happy on his own course in this short life.
