Chasing the General is ultimately what will ensure another three years of ole Phil. The man is dead set on retiring as UT's all-time leader in wins. The question, however, is "How much will his legacy be tarnished before accomplishing that feat?"...and..."Will the program have been so downgraded by then that his record is vastly unappreciated?" One can only hope for better.

Let's dispense with this foolishness now. Fulmer's not performing well enough to get there.

Yea, this is not happening. Neyland is going to get emptier by the game. This program is boring. It is not fun to watch. Auburn lost the other night, but they were at least entertaining. UT looks like a gang of misfits running around the field.

The Keystone Kops come to mind...

Let's face it. This has been said before. We are a program of empty numbers anymore. 26 more wins for Fulmer to break Neyland's record. 500 or so yards for Arian Foster to break the UT rushing record. 100,000 seat stadium, 8 wins, more SEC championship game appearances by any team since 1997, winningest active coach in his first so-and-so many years... and the bigggest empty number... $2.5 million dollars for a coach that is neither in his prime nor in heavy demand on the open market.

IMO even if Fulmer hung around long enough to break Neyland's record, the program would be in such chaos that the record would be tainted. It would be like Barry Bonds HR record IMO. Who cares?

Don't forget, we've been tops in SEC attendance for 20+ years. Whooopeee!!!

Perfectly stated...We are a program of "empty numbers." Sadly, in order for Phil to make an exit, the win column will have to remain "empty" for a long period of time.

I agree. But applicability will not prove sufficient in swaying Hamilton to let him loose. The worst thing that happened to UT football is a 10 win season last year. That bought Fulmer the opportunity to catch the General. And it bought us more time with our wives on Saturdays. At least they're happy!
