I thought about this reading a previous post and watching the Kansas game last night. I wish our student section had more of a system to it. They should have us either behind both goals, or along the sides. I was at the Memphis game and the upper sections are up in the rafters and don't really get into the game as much as the lower sections. You think they should change it or leave it?

they are renovating tba in the off-season for this exact purpose. coach pearl said one of his top priorities was getting the student section more involved in the game by moving them closer. the renovations will void the lifetime tickets they had to give away to build tba, so the students will be moved. hopefully to the sidelines.

Yeah...I wish Pearl could do something, because I know he'd try everything he could to get it changed.

Does anyone that is familiar with the plans or close with the basketball program know exactly what the preliminary plans are for the student section?

I, personally, would like to see them along the sides. However, the only problem with that is what to do for the "not-so-big" games like teams other than the Floridas, Kentuckys, LSUs, Alabamas, etc., when all the seats aren't full.?? If they made that kind of commitment to the students and the students didn't show up, it would really speak volumes about the support of our basketball program, especially if the game was on TV in front of a national audience with empty seats on the 4th row.

If we don't sell out games against Florida, Kentucky,LSU, Alabama then we don't deserve a basketball team....

The students aren't the ones not showing up. The sidelines are bare for the lesser games, not the corner that the students are in

it should be like Flordias student section..It seems like they can just reach out and touch you if you're standing at mid court..That way you're in the opponents ear all game long..Not just when they're down on your end.

Florida students are on one side but are not on the side that is on TV as the camera pans back and forth. There are also some upper-level sections for students. Without getting very detailed about this, students reserve admission to a game in advance. You have to arrive rather early to sit in the lower level but only by tipoff to get an upper-level seat, if you have reserved a spot.
