being benched to me means not playing at all. If you’re rotated in but not a starter, you are not benched. You may have moved to 2nd string or B team or whatever, but you are still a major contributor and therefore can not be considered benched imo.

YMMV, but everyone I've ever known who was a starter and then wasn't a starter was said to have been benched.

I'm not gonna argue semantics but we've all heard it: "Why isn't XXX starting? He got benched and YYY is starting now."

It just is what it is.

Makes sense to at least get a look at someone else there vs Akron. Nothing against Burrell, he’s done his best, there’s some areas of improvement but he just doesn’t look like starter quality.
