I'm assuming he will get to see the playing field at some point this season. Hopefully, not due to injuries but in the Vandy, South Ala games.
IMO he should leave as he is not a fit for our new offense, that is obvious at this point. Hate it for the kid. I'm thinking the odds of him staying after this year are 10% and only that high since he really loves being a Vol.

I don't know that a team down 14 scholarship players needs the scholarship.Only so many players can be signed in any year.

This is changing due to the portal. An early draft of the new rule will allow up to 32 per year above the current limit of 25.

Don't know what the status of the rule is though.

I heard they were considering it too but even then, down 14 and attrition from graduation and transfers will not balance out for us in one year. Honestly, it should be if a kid transfers it can be a spot for a spot. I am sure that can be gamed but it sure would have helped us to be able to take more transfers.

Yep if you lose a player in the portal you should be able to recruit another player. They didn't think the portal decision through enough, now they have to somehow fix it. If allowed the way it is a present some schools will really lose out. A coaching change can potentially whip out a roster. And no way the school could catch up. You would have thought they would have covered the different scenarios before allowing it. Hopefully it won't take them 3-5 years to fix this. GBO!!!!!

We’ve got that other QB in this 2022 class committed who is likely a great fit for this offense. Assuming he stays committed, HB will be 4th in the pecking order.
I guessing he gone. But not before the season is over. I don’t see him as one who would bail mid season

NCAA Set To Temporarily Expand College Football Class Signing Limits

That's from a BC site and dated September 15. It appears the rule change may be temporary and also involves an increase to the total limit to 100. So it's stated that this may be a single year deal only. IMO they are probably going to continuee to have a lot of attrition from the portal so I would expect they do this for one year and then maybe keep a scaled down version of it. In a way it doesn't matter as even if it's only a one year deal it helps us tremendously.

If the rule passes, we could take up to 32 in recruiting this spring plus whatever we can get from the portal. I don't know what our graduation attrition is this year, plus we might get more in the portal.

Whatever the case, this rule will be very helpful to the Vols.

He has been here less than a year, and that one year was a COVID year. Slow down, he is only a Freshman. To say he is not a fit in this offense is to say you don't know this offense. If it can fit Drew Lock it can fit Harrison Bailey, you don't have to be a runner in this offense for it to work. But you do have to be better than Bailey has been. That does not mean he can't do it. He just can't do it when he is basically a True Freshman.
