Why on earth do they take J. Jones out after halftime? I cannot understand this coaching staff. They're take tenure as seriously as a government job.

i wasn't aware that they did that. i am very much aware that as soon as JJ was put in and wiesman took over at center that UT had several good running plays to the right side including a 20+ yd. scamper by dobbs just before he hit malone for a TD. like many on here i don't know why our coaching staff does some of the things they do.

The future is somewhere down the road. Presently we need a starter MLB. How the staff fills that position is their decision. If the fill is to move JRM to MLB then so be it.

But what happens if JRM gets hurt? Move McDowell over? Start Jumper, Bynum or Bryant? That doesn't seem to me to be the answer. Bituli is on the "present" roster as a LB, get him ready.

You think the average true freshman is ready to man the MLB spot? "QB of the defense"? It's not a read and react position...Kirkland spoiled us on that. Jakob Johnson is a pretty good athlete and couldn't fill it adequately after EE and half the season. Maybe they move Bituli back to LB...doubt it's at that spot.

I defend them sometimes to a fault, confounded by that also. The same for their seeming debt to Crowder last season.

I think Bituli, just like Kirkland, is not your average true freshmen. The kid can play. I can handle being spoiled.

Would he be a better option at MLB than JRM or McDowell, the answer is no. But he certainly would be better reserve at MLB than Bates or Berry or Jumper or Bryant or Bynum.

How do you know he would be better? Just wondering?

I don't think I'm slighting Bituli by withholding judgement on that. Find it odd that they would move him to DE if he showed a proclivity for MLB. He balls out at MLB and I'll be happy to cast doubts to the wind...til then I wouldn't throw "certainly" around as concrete.

Could it be this was their plan to get the ones struggling playing time yet win for the first three games and come Florida its a complete new OL we havent seen?

I kind of have a feeling they'd meant for him to become a DE all along and gave him a shot at MLB just 'cuz.

That was the rumor during his recruitment. Think they promised him a fair shot (ala Jennings), and then worked on him to switch almost immediately (once again, ala Jennings :))

watching the replays of both games, I see a lot of standing around by the O line. Rarely are they searching out someone to block when the play breaks down or the miss a block

Pause the DE move. Proclivity confirmed.

“I’m really excited about both,” Jones said during his weekly Wednesday press conference. “Daniel Bituli played as a true freshman last week — played in our goal-line package — and his role will continue to increase at the linebacker position and on special teams. I’m really excited about him.

“I think he’s got a bright, bright future. Very, very intelligent, very physical, can run, so we’re encouraged and I’m ecstatic about him.”

Did anyone hear Butch talking about Coleman Thomas today? He said Thomas has been dealing with two bad ankles all year. Even said they were swollen, black, and blue. Hope he gets back to his old self. I knew there had to be something wrong with him

Did he play middle linebacker? Thought he was on the outside. If this is the start of something great with him at LB? Awesome! Shame it took massive injuries to snake him away tho.
