In the "Preview 2010 - Way Early Bowl Picks" CFN actually has the Vols projected to the Liberty Bowl (also mentioned in contention for the Music City...)

I assume that means CFN expect us at 6-6 or 7-5 at best (which is interesting coming from writers that I've never felt really liked/respected UT very much).

Given the issues for this season, I'd actually be happy with that.

Check it out HERE

With all of the bowls that we currently have in CFB, teams with a losing record could still make it to a bowl game. Although I hope that CFN is predicting a .500 or winning record, it's possible they think we could go 5-7 and sneak in one.

I sure hope it's 7-5. although with Tenn's schedule I'd take 6-6, but it would def leave a bitter taste.

EDIT: anything better than 5-7. just want a winning season.

At 6-6, it would probably be Liberty or Papa J's. Music City more likely at 7-5, which is very possible.

They're more optimistic then half of volnation. Our orange-tinted glasses must be on backwards.

no, most of us are calling for 5 to 7 win seasons. The issue that keeps getting debated was where we end up falling in division standings

there's a chance too that Music City could take us at 6-6 also.

Remember, the bowls are all about who they think will sell and it's simply the order they pick in - not the SEC order of finish

Music city bowl has been talking for a few years now about how they want Tennessee b/c of the crowd draw in state and that they've never had the university play there....there is a chance if we were to still be there when they picked, they might try to sneak us in

CFN also has Georgia in a BCS game.

That's True - apparently the writer was more HIGH at the end of the process than at the beginning...

I know UGA has an easy schedule, but winning the East? How are they measurably better than the Vols on paper (besides maybe depth)?

Saw that too

Was a bit odd -- not because they're picking UGA to win the East, but if they're saying UGA wins the division and Bama's the SEC #1 (meaning championship), then that means that Bama would have beaten UGA in the SEC Championship game the week beforehand

Unless they expect UGA to be undefeated (slip by seems to suggest not) then odds are UGA drops out of BCS at-large potential from losing the week before the bowls are announced; so that wouldnt happen

Either an overlook on their part or someone doesn't completely understand the process and is just making picks off ranking teams in the conferences

and it doesnt work; you win the east and then lose to Bama in the SEC Championship the day/week before final BCS invites, odds are you're falling out of at large (unless you're undefeated...which it looks like they are saying UGA would not be)

correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Holiday Bowl get the Big 12 #2, not the Cotton Bowl?

or did the Holiday change conference affiliations this offseason?

they didn't play in the SEC Championship that year, we did....we lost to LSU

Oh, I didn't read the part where they actually have UGA winning the East. Thought you were just speculating that. They're wrong on both parts.

It's conceivable that UGA loses to FLA and still wins the East. Have you seen their schedule? They don't get LSU or Bama this year, FLA gets both. When was the last year the SEC didn't have two in the BCS? 2006, maybe?

Florida will not lose to LSU. Losing to Bama won't matter if they beat UGA, which they will.

good lord they also have Ohio State VS TCU from the mountain west haha uhhh huh thats going to happen:eek:k:

actually TCU might start the season around #7.

If that's the case and they run through the schedule, there's a pretty good chance they can get up to #2 with the usual upsets, barring 2 undefeated teams

I'm a bit confused at what you're trying to get at here...

but the last time the SEC didn't have two teams in the BCS were the BCS bowls following the 2005-2006 season

If this team were able to make it to a bowl game in Nashville I would hope the orange would fill that stadium out to show our support. That would be a great year!
