So using your theory……if by some chance the VOLS are only favored in 6 games & the VOLS will all 6 of those games & don’t lose to any underdogs…..then you will be happy with a 6 – 6 record?
Incorrect. Finding positives in optimism despite your record is for losers.
You're setting yourself up for disappointment. That prediction is pretty on target in my opinion. They could exceed expectations or it could go the other way. You may not want to here this but year three will be the year kiffin will be fair game for criticism. This year he gets a pass in my book. Next year they'll be breaking in a lot of new linemen on the offensive line and more than likely a freshman qb. 2011 will be the year to see if kiffin's plan is going to work or not. He didn't fall into a ideal situation, but i get the feeling he'll make the best of it.
I don't know if you'd really call it lowered expectations. More of a matter of understanding where we're at right now. We're not the top dog in this conference and may not be for awhile. 8 wins is a very realistic view on next year. I get a feeling depth will become a problem the further into the season we get. We simply need more body's and how healthy they stay is going to be a big deal this year. And I'm fine with people that enter the season with lowered expectations from what we've come to expect as a fan base over the last hundred years. I will not lower my expectation just to avoid disappointment.
Looking at our schedule we will be favored in 8 games. Looking at our roster we have a lot of talent that has seen playing time. I'd be surprised if we start someone that has never seen the field - it's not like we're expecting incoming freshmen to play significant minutes. Based on that, my expectation is 8 wins. Anything more is great, anything less means we lost to a team we were expected to beat.

i think it's clear IE has no understanding of this concept.I don't know if you'd really call it lowered expectations. More of a matter of understanding where we're at right now. 8-4 is what I'm predicting.
