The thing I really hate about this rule is they enforce it when they want. Kansas st got hit for a little salute, but Mark Ingram can put his hands together and show the bama gloves and jump up and down? Or uf can score and do that stupid Tebow arm flap for ten seconds and nothing happens?

Just like all rules there is no consistenly. If they called every celebration then I would understand as it would be fair. Bu when they call some, then let others go, it just messes up the game.

There shouldnt be an excessive celebration rule. Another rule the NCAA needs to adopt from the NFL. As long as it isnt direct taunting of another player or anything inappropriate (throat slashing, crotch grabbing, middle fingers or gang signs) then is should be fair game

I think he was being sincere. Agreed they should take the NFL route, no rehearsed celebration with team mates, no vulgar gesturing, no taunting. It should NOT go into deciding a game.

Its a very serious answer and I dont see how who you root for has anything to do with it. Excessive Celebration penalties are stupid. I dont see why a player cant be excited about score a TD. Especially some 300lb lineman or a kid that doesnt get a lot of playing time. You cant express human emotions now? Why dont we just take all the fun out of football. Again as long as its not direct taunting or inappropriate behavior, I dont see why it shouldnt be allowed.

Besides what Mark Ingram did was no worse then the Dancing with the Stars performance Tennessee had in the Music City bowl and honestly none of it was that bad, so I dont see what the whining is all about.

I think the subjectivity in enforcing this rule is whack, but in the meantime, it just means coaches have to coach the team on how to celebrate (and how not to).

It's stupid. I understand not getting a bunch of guys together and doing some coordinated deal. A kid saluting or making one gesture other than a throat slash shouldn't get a penalty.
The refs are too big a part of it now and they want to control it more. Damn sounds just like our government.

It's a game. It's supposed to be fun.

The kids put in a ton of work and bust their asses all year long in order to play 12 or 13 short football games. They sweat, they bleed, they get hurt and injured, all for the game of football. There's no harm in letting them enjoy the emotion and excitement of their few successful moments on the field.

Calling the touchdown back on that penalty will decide some games, for sure.

The only way I'm okay with that is if the rule is set and enforced properly.
