I never have been a great poster, but I wanted to share this story. Anyone who watched 60 Minutes last night got to see where I live. I was one affected by the shutdown. I was escorted out the same week we played KY. to go to the SEC championship. My wife talked me into watching the game. She said it was better than staring at the walls. I watched it and for that few hours, I remembered how I love the Vols. It also made me start thinking about what I had to do. It snapped me out of it. I would read Mr. Hat, BPV, Mr. Freak and the others and I could escape for a while. As the foreclosure came and we moved (Xmas Day), we were as ready as you can be. We have an apartment and are starting a new life. I look back to the KY game and Erik Ainge and the VN posters. You all allowed me to "snap out of my initial shock". Thanks Guys and Gals. Sports may not be everything, but to some people it's all they have got. Even if for just one game. Take care and GO VOLS.

Sorry to hear about your pains. I do know what you mean though, I battled cancer all last year, and checking these stories helped me escape the roughest times.

I've had the door slammed in my face a half dozen times, and each time it turned out for the better. Good luck in the future.

Glad to hear you have the will to overcome. I hope that you're new start comes with nothing but prosperity. Good luck with it, man!

I, too, find solice is the UT sports community. I recently had a co-worker take her own life. She taught in the room adjacent to mine. It was all that was on my mind until I pulled up VN and started checking up on the status of this past weekends visit. Its a nice little escape...especially interacting with people who are as passionate about something as you are.

Oh yeah....GO VOLS!!

That is exactly it. 8000 people gone in less than a year. Wilmington now has 60% unemployment. And in some cases, a guard and your supervisor walking to your desk is the only warning.

The situation there is just terrible.
Sad to hear and I wish you the best.

Thanks everyone. Now let's bring back Coach Fulmer. LOL
I just wanted to hear from everyone. You folks have made me feel better already. I am just trying to draw Mr. Hat and Greywolf out.

Many times I have had adversity present opportunities that may not have been discovered while I was in complacent bliss. The best thing that happened to me business wise was when I lost a job, and had to look around. May it be the same for you. Prayer doesn't hurt.

Thank you for your thoughts. I sure was blindsided, but now we are getting it together.

Yes, sports does give you a temporary escape from bad things. However, only God himself provides everlasting peace. It is my hope each of you will turn to God and not sports during your times of struggle!
