Tomorrow's Top 25 Today: Clemson jumps Michigan as Tennessee, UCLA surge in new college football rankings

6. Tennessee (8): There are more quality wins on the Vols' profile than what USC or Oklahoma State have so far with three wins against Power Five teams who were all ranked in the top 25 at the time of the game.

Where it gets interesting is just outside the top three where Clemson and Tennessee are surging, potentially poised to move up within the top 10.
The Tigers have some room to move up as a result of both their recent wins and Michigan failing to exhibit the same dominance shown at the start fo the season, but there's more vertical movement possible with Tennessee. The Volunteers traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as three-point favorites and came out with a 40-13 win in the early slate, looking dominant on the road against a ranked team on their way to beefing up an undefeated profile.

Undefeated top teams according to AP, record vs top 25 and percent of schedule vs ranked.

1 Bama 1-0 (played 6 games) 17% vs ranked
2 UGA 1-0 (played 6 games) 17%
3 OH ST 1-0 (played 6 games) 17%
4 Michigan 0-0 (played 6 games) 0%
5 Clemson 2-0 (played 6 games) 34%
6 USC 0-0 (played 6 games) 0%
7 OK ST 1-0 (played 5 games) 20%
8 Tennessee 3-0 (played 5 games) 60%
9 Ole Miss 1-0 (played 6 games) 17%
10 Penn St 0-0 (played 5 games) 0%
17 TCU 2-0 (played 5 games) 40%
18 UCLA 2-0 (played 6 games) 34%
19 Syracuse 0-0 (played 5 games) 0%

The Vols are 20% higher vs ranked than the next highest. To put this into perspective, The Vols gap over #2 is larger than or equal to the total percentage of 9 of the 13 teams on the list.

This is not the only factor into a ranking system but one that after almost half a season played should be a major component into anyone's thought process of where a given team is to be ranked.

My opinion is in today's AP poll the top 10 (undefeated teams) should be as follows:
1. UGA
2. BAMA
3. OH ST
4. CLEMSON
5. TENNESSEE
6. OK ST
7. UCLA
8. TCU
9. OLE MISS
10. MICHIGAN
11. USC
12. PENN ST
Syracuse (who cares)

Honestly, who cares. It's not in the top 5 either way and if we beat that red to the South, we jump up in the rankings next week.

Still waiting on that apology for his rant about us not hiring his hero Schiano. That has been proven to be a misguided opinion.
