CBS recognizing that Tennessee is finishing strong on recruiting

Holloway was better than DOBBS, too....and if you want to expand the conversation--neither of them could hold a candle to Tony Robinson!

While it is true that the game has changed over the past 25 years....Shuler would've thrived in CBJ's offensive scheme and, I certainly believe, put up better numbers passing than Dobbs. In fact, CBJ's offensive system was tailor-made for Heath Shuler--who looked more like Deshaun Watson back in the day than Josh Dobbs. (Please remember that a whole lot of folks thought that Shuler was good enough to finish 2nd in the pre-Peyton Heisman).

I don't believe that Dobbs would have thrived in the offensive system Shuler ran because Dobbs never demonstrated the ability to read defenses or throw the ball with great accuracy.

Dobbs' was one of the worst QBs we've ever had throwing the deep ball. And, just because Dobbs was faster and had more DESIGNED QB RUNS doesn't make him more athletic--IMO.

And before everyone goes off on me--I love Dobbs. He was more durable than Shuler and much harder to tackle. But honestly examine his performances against stiffer competition and you see just how bad he could be.

It is true that he thrived by making plays with his legs, but his inability to stay in the pocket and find the open receiver HURT us way more than it helped us.

Not arguing, just giving my reasons for believing Shuler was better.

However, the best athlete we've ever had playing QB would have to be between Holloway and Robinson--IMO.

GO VOLS!

You guys are completely overlooking the Great Eric Locke playing wildcat QB. Everything else pales.

Just curious here but what are your expectations for the first year under CJP and staff? Surely it can't be top three in recruiting and championship game in Atlanta. Also, if you don't mind my asking, what year would you expect CJP and staff to achieve your expectations. Not trying to start any crap with you but you have put forth a really hardcore stance toward the new staff.
I won't be saying he should be fired for 6-6 but I won't be saying he did a good job either. Finish in top 10 nationally recruiting, which is possible if we fill the remaining slots available. Keep bringing in solid talent like he has and he can get there.
Beat Florida, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Missouri. Win all the out of conference games. None of the SEC teams I listed are miles better than us talent wise. Kentucky and SC have the advantage of being better coached the last few years. If the staff is what we are saying they are, then they should be able to give it to these teams. Zero games where we lose by 4 TD's. That mess won't fly anymore. With good coaching, these 5 SEC wins are possible.
Do these things in year one and I will be optimistic that we are on the right path. He doesn't get a pass on year one for me. The last three coaches did and I see where giving a pass gets us. Pruitt said he is out there to win every game. So let's see some results.
Sorry if my wait and see mindset and not wanting to say he is turning the corner seems nega to the sensitive ones. After the last 3 coaches, I will believe it when I see it.

Saban went 7-6 first year (2007) with a loss to Louisiana Monroe, including a losing every game in November (4) that year. Sometimes you have to give a pass on year one, regardless of the last 3 coaches.

Look at Kirby Smart too last year. I thought UGA had screwed the pooch on that hire. This year, not so much.
