Here are 7 teams CBS Sports sees finishing strong for 2018 recruiting: College football recruiting: Teams that can close strong for 2018 National Signing Day - CBSSports.com

Here is the quote from the article on Tennessee:

TENNESSEE
As much as any new coach this cycle, Jeremy Pruitt has been hard at work, winning a national championship at Alabama and still sparking a 40 spot rise in the team rankings in Knoxville. There's still more work to be done though. The Vols could theoretically add as many as eight more commits before Feb. 7, and though that number is likely to be smaller, the staff is leaving no stone unturned. From cornerbacks Olaijah Griffin and Isaac Taylor-Stuart out of California to Alabama commit Quay Walker and Auburn commit Coynis Miller, the Vols are heavy on action this time of year. While those are some of the bigger name targets, Louisiana cornerback Eddie Smith, Alabama defensive lineman Malik Langham, Washington, D.C. end Caleb Okechukwu are among the numerous other prospects that are in play. Current rank: 17

I must say I am pleased. With all the turmoil and admin mistakes combined with Pruitt's short two weeks prior to early signing we have no right to be on this list. I think this is a great sign.

I agree. I will add considering one of the other teams on this list is Florida I think we are seeing the seeds sewn for a return to greatness of the SEC East. I am ready for the Tennessee, UGA and Florida match ups of old.

Glad Pruitt and his staff aren't shy about going head to head with the elite teams in recruiting.

Jones seemed to put together plenty of stars to get the rankings up but they always seemed to be a tier or two lower than what the Bama...Clemsons of the world were going after. Not all 4 star players are considered equal.

Hopefully CJP is recruiting players that fit his system unlike Lyle who recruited players solely to boost his recruiting rankings.

I think this point is painfully obvious in the QB situation.

The only recruit he ever brought in that actually looked like he belonged in his junk offense was Dobbs.

No disrespect to Dormady or Guarantano but neither of those guys have the wheels to make teams respect the run as Dobbs did.

I'd be perfectly content with Florida sucking.

I just donÂ’t see Florida being great under Mullen.

QD I don't get. JG was the #1 duel threat QB coming out of HS. Butch's offense was as disaster. The longer he ran it the easier it was to stop. We needed Peanut or Tony Robinson running his offense. Shuler could have pulled it off too. Banks was fun to watch.

No. I want us to own Florida.

Yes. UT is due a winning streak. Whether by fielding the better teams or by luck, UF's consecutive losses to the Vols needs to hit double digits. If Tennessee wins every game against Florida right through 2049, I'll be pleased as punch.

The problem wasn't the players he recruited, it was the fact they didn't improve at all from the moments they stepped foot on campus. Player development issues, recruiting was fine.

I think Pruitt has done a great job. I have a hunch though, that Fulmer was guiding the coaches already reported for duty while Pruitt was coaching. Fulmer gets it when it comes to recruiting. Currie couldn't have pulled that off.

And, he (metaphorically) wrote checks to these guys he couldn't cash. Who knows what he promised.

I agree with you. I think people are going to be surprised at how much talent is on this team in the next year or two.

Pruitt is a relentless grinder on the recruiting trail. He will have us loaded for bear very soon. I really do expect top 5 classes to become the norm under Pruitt.
