CBJ vs previous Coaches

You know it's a good season when fans have to go back 46 years to defend the current coaching staff.

Again, context. The SECE is literally, worse this year, than any of the years that you have above. Any of those coaches you've listed, with the current roster, would have no problem cruising to a spot in ATL.

There was no "east" for most of those years. Kentucky has always stunk, Vanderbilt has always stunk, Georgia was up and down but had plenty of bad years, South Carolina and Missouri weren't in the SEC, Florida was up and down and we didn't play them a lot. After there was an east Fulmer couldn't beat Florida with the best QB of all time. There's your context.

Let's face it. CBJ gets paid pretty well to put up with the critics. And there will always be people that will criticize every year unless we at least win the SECCG. I have a good friend that has completely given up and won't even watch the games any more because we lost to USCjr. Sure, that was a bad loss, but I'm looking at the big picture.

In today's instant gratification society, Majors would have been fired in 1980 or 1982 at the latest.

So now expecting CBJ to meet the goals that he set himself in the 4th season is "instant gratification"?

What in your opinion is a reasonable expectation? 6 years? 8 years?

I would say if he hasn't won the East by year 6, it's time to go. But, not if he's 10-3 like we could be this year. As badly as I want to win the big one, a 10-3 coach just shouldn't be fired.

CBJ is comparable to Battle, Majors and Fulmer. Better than Kiffin and Dooley!

Someone please explain why he would be on the hot seat with this resume' considering what he inherited. 2 bowl wins over higher ranked teams and more wins year over year.

I'm glad you're hear CBJ and I support you!

Go Vols!

Bill Battle was a very good xs nd os coach. His problem was his inability to recruit football players. His record shows he could win with Dickey’s talent and that his winning percentage dropped off when he had to coach his recruits. Dickey was a very good coach and recruiter at Tennessee, but for some reason did not do as well at UF. He drew some really outstanding players out of Georgia for us.

There was a reason why he was selected as our AD and I think he was a good AD.

Really? Football kicked off, Offense and defense and special teams still played. Seems the same game to me.

You know that's not what I mean. Today those mediocre numbers would have got Majors fired before he could succeed. Butch would have been a God with his first 4 year numbers back then.
