Signing Day 2014: The story behind Tennessee's recruiting class - College Football - Andy Staples - SI.com

Awesome read and didn't know this.

While cameras from Tennessee's website and ESPN focused on the machine and the players names being affixed above, this machine was really a decoy.

...Nashville is solidly orange. Vanderbilt may sit just south of downtown, but most college fans in the metro area identify themselves as Volunteers.

Somebody please tell the Nashville media this.

Outstanding piece! I couldn't be happier with the job Coach Jones & staff have done not just with recruiting, but in every aspect of running a football program.

Yeah nothing like losing to vandy two years n a row.. That's a way to run a program. Lol

Agree on the way tlthe staff recruited but now they need to get some wins.. I can name coaches that could recruit but didn't win n the sec.

Only one is on him, chief, and we were a holding penalty away from beating a more talented team this past year.

Is it really that much faster or easier to not type the "i" in "in"?

...and the buzz is well deserved...we are ranked in the top 5 with the so-called titans of college football...5 wins two years in a row...we should not be there. Great job recruiting by current players, the signees (legacy)as well as the coaches!

lost to the worst florida and georgia teams in a long time as well. Beating south carolina was what should've gotten us a bowl, and it didn't. We can spin it however we want, but he won one he shouldn't have and lost one he shouldn't have, for a nice net gain of nothing in the end.

Wow, did you watch any games? Or just look at final scores? How many starters did uga, uf, AND UT have that were injured by the time they played vandy? It was awful.
Had a legit chance to beat uga... If UT had played vandy early and uf late in the season, that would have been 2 more wins...stuff happens. Being a Vol fan has been tough, but the upswing is happening. :dance2:

This is an awesome class in terms of both talent and numbers. The last class that was rated this high on Rivals was the 2007 class, excluding Eric Berry, it was full of star power that turned out mostly to be duds. It's up to this staff to develop these kids into their fullest potential while continuing to recruit at this level. I have full confidence in them to do just that based on what I have seen so far.

Hey! On or off the bandwagon. Make a choice and move on. I don't know how in the world any Vol fan can malign a coaching staff after year one and after the recruiting haul we just made. Whatever happened last season was with mostly someone else's recruits who by the by had as many top 300 recruits in the last 4 or 5 years as we just got on Wednesday. Excuse our enthusiasm.
