I hope you guys understand the resolve and the resiliency of this football team. And the local media ought to understand that. We've got something special here. All that stuff -- "Must win" -- all that, that wasn't the case. We are building something special here with character and competitiveness. And it's just one game -- we gotta go on the road next week -- but the resolve of these kids, with all these expectations on this football game... You don't play your best football, you go down at half time, and that second half performance, if you don't have character in your football program then that does not happen.

CBJ directed this post-game quote towards the media, but after these first four games I think some of our fans need to hear this as well. I'm talking about the sort of chuckleheads who left Neyland at half time crying to anyone who would listen about how bad the playcalling was and how the coaching staff needed to go. The same lot who were here making threads about Butch being a coward and trying to sell their Bama tickets before they lose their value. These guys wouldn't know good coaching if it reached through their monitors and smacked them in the face.

Our players have heart. They've got the warrior spirit drilled into them. I don't know if they're as good as we thought they would be before the season began, particularly in the trenches, but it's clear that they want to be. Obviously we have a tough stretch ahead of us, but after tonight I have no fear of this team ever giving up, and that's something I haven't been able to say about a Tennessee team in too long. And at the end of the day, the reality is that well coached teams adjust to adversity and find a way to win, and last time I checked we're 4-0.

For those that need it, please let this game sink in tonight and remember it the next time you feel like making half time threads demanding various coaches heads to roll, only to try to take it back 30 minutes later when we win. Because if you have to wait until the 4th quarter when we're in the lead to figure out whether or not you're a fan of this team then let me end the suspsense for you. The answer is no. You're the very definition of fair weather.

Fair weather football causes fairweather responses to passionate fanatics. Championship football causes cheers. Nature of this beast. Go Vols!

Jones is turning into a despot who wants to push the media around and lecture reporters about being negative. This is big-time sports, coach: UT had lost 11 straight games to one of its biggest rivals. There is going to be pressure, there is going to be negativity and there are going to be questions. Deal with it. Roll with it. The media doesn't exist to please Butch Jones or any other sports coach--and, in fact, Jones has no idea what real media negativity is. Coaches in football towns like Knoxville have it easy precisely because the media is dependent on the athletic department and having access to coaches and players. If he were an NFL coach, he'd see what real media scrutiny is all about. Trying to lecture the media after a win is small-town BS.

So what media outlet do you work for?

The media in knoxville is a F-ing joke. There are a couple of decent ones in a cesspool of a bunch of "look at me's". I love that coach calls them out. They get so butthurt every time he does like an entitled little b*tch.

I've lurked for a few years now but for you to even mention this after a historic win? Shut the hll up with that nonsense.. Knoxville media (especially Adams) has seemed to look for ANYTHING to turn negative for years now. They want to be TMZ or something.. It's sad but the truth. You are the perfect example. Smfh.Go Vols.

Well the Vols played 14 quarters of horse$%*# football, until the second half today. They and the coaches deserved all the criticism.

Now, move on to Georgia and cut the holier than thou crap.

Good thing those quarters were good enough to all be wins.

I'll admit I was so damn mad that I thought about leaving at halftime for the 1st time ever. But decided to take my punishment like a man. I would've never forgiven myself if I had left and will never even think about it again

Haters are going to hate. Reminds me of a saying that relates to so many here on volnation. Give them a bar of gold and they would pi&& and moan that is wasn't two bars and they received a free ride home. Nothing is ever going to be good enough for them. Reminds me of my sister-in-law who's and Alabama fan. Doesnt matter that they pile up the W's, they have to humiliate all opponents by 50+ are they aren't happy and didn't deserve to win. If that's the case, give back your 22+ so called national championships.... Ridiculous!

Hoptown, find another team sir. You don't deserve to call yourself a vol.
