Catching Up With.... Phillip Fulmer

Phillip Fulmer

Good read. Would like to see one Majors as well.

Why no questions about why did you let the program go to h_ll? I think I'll throw up. Why did it take so long for you to get fired? Don't you think a coach should set an example for his players by maintaining a high level of physical fitness? etc, etc, etc.

Who cares? I want to read about Phil Fulmer about as much as I want to read about Urban Meyer. What is the news? Noone STILL doesn't want to hire him as a coach? At least Meyer knew when to quit.:eek:lol:

Then don't read it. I found it interesting to see a non-football IV of a former UT coach. I was not a huge Fulmer fan and I was for his removal in 2008. The article was not posted to start another debate about whether or not he should have been fired. Don't assume it leads to assumptions.

Good read. I would like to see one on Majors as well. My first game live was Majors first game as our coach so I'm old enough to remember there were good times with both of them.

Very interesting read. Anybody else think it is cool that he has Peyton Manning's number in his cell phone contacts list?

Interesting read. Kind of danced around some questions....but who knows....maybe he is writing a tell all book. I'm sure all of VolNation is waiting for that day to come.

you cared enough to open the thread. people like you need to get over it. fulmer bashers and haters baffle me. i guess it is just easier to hate than to appreciate the good he did. we were lucky to have him here.

Mine would be, "Are you embarrassed that so many great players wound up felons after you had four years to impact them?

why all of the hate for fulmer? i continuously get on the board and everyone is bashing fulmer. sure he set the program back a little bit but the guy has done alot for tennessee. the guy truly bleeds orange and everyone acts like he is the worse thing that has ever happened to tennessee. man, just show the guy a little respect. i am glad he is gone but i would love to see him involved with the university in some capacity. GBO!!!:loco:

:hi: My thoughts exactly. It was all of this hate that made me wait 6 months before finally breaking down and joining. It is disgusting the way people act towards Fulmer when the guy did a lot more good for the program than bad, it's like a National Championship means nothing to them.

Good read. Was interesting. Wish he had given more substansive answers to some questions, but hey, he was being diplomatic.

He was great in his prime. I miss those days. I don't understand the haters. It's one thing to think his best years were behind him, it's a totally different proposition to ignore all the good, all the blood, sweat and tears, and hate on the man.

I think this is the point where someone makes the obligatory: He made a lot of money, he didn't do it for free : comments. As if that matters. What most people don't think about is that most coaches are not greedy. They are just insanely competitive. Their salaries are just another way of keeping score.
