Weird how he's the only one not seeming to get any decent looks up to this point. We shouldn't be so bitter towards the poor guy.

I'm not. The guy tried and failed. No doubt he have it his all. Was in over his head. We should never be bitter toward someone like that.

As far as other jobs. I'm sure he's had plenty of position coach and maybe coordinator jobs offered. Dude's in no hurry since UT is footing the bill a plenty this year. Won't hurt his career to take a year off. He'll need to step into something next year at the latest for his career sake.

If you wanna be bitter. Take it out on the administrative mess. But then again, most of them from the decade are already gone too. So, just don't be bitter. Be better! 😃

Though I am not too happy with Butch anymore, I still won't put him in the same catagory with Dooley. When I heard HS coaches had so little communication with the Tennessee program, that was just poor planning and laziness, IMO. Hate him for other stuff, but not for being a lazy recruiter.

I wouldn't be surprised if Butch gets an assistant coaching job in the power 5 eventually. But trying to figure out why the Hell Missouri wanted Dooley? I waited for hours for someone to scream April Fools when that was announced, but it never happened.

Dooley knows and can coach offense. Remember, his last season was one of the most prolific offenses in UT history. He's had 5 years to marinate in the NFL while recovering from the embarrassment here. MO could have done much worse for an OC than Doolittle IMO.
Honestly, I'm not looking forward to facing that MO QB and offense next season. Pruitt or not.

He was requested to interview with Oregon State but he declined the interview. I sure hope he isn't waiting on a Power 5 school to hire him. He should land at Western Kentucky or Akron. Then after a successful gig there he may get a job at K State or Wake Forest.

Western Kentucky went 6-6 last year, so that sounds about CBJ territory. He'll bring them back to 10-2 and they'll put up the giant picture we took down from the Jumbotron.

It is not an honorable thing to do to not take a job if you are Butch. Hell at least an OC position somewhere. I think 95 % of coaches in a similar position would have taken a job by now just because they are men who want to take responsibility for their own failures and not dump the financial burden of them on others. In this case by the way that would be Tennessee tax payers.I for one don't want to support Butch Jones and his family, but that is just me. Move on and produce something for your money Butch. Don't sit back and leech your living like an undeserving (not all are undeserving) welfare recipient.

I don't blame Butch for not working, either. If I got fired and didn't have to work right away and could still get paid and wait for the kind of opportunity I really wanted, I'd do the same thing. 99% of the people here would, too. Both sides signed the contract.

IMO, “ the kind of opportunity” that Butch really wants isn’t in the forecast.

Were those the same fans that were afraid UGA was going to hire DD away from us?:eek:lol:

Same ones afraid Bama is gonna hire Pruitt from us. Until we fire him in 3 years. Then they'll be afraid somebody gonna hire the next guy. Rinse repeat. Its what we do.

Meh, somebody bound to be right. Eventually.

I have no respect for him. He was offered to coach until the season ended and he walked....

1) walked out on the school that hired/pays him...
2) walked out on the players he recruited...
3) walked out on the patient fans who supported/tolerated him...
4) walked out on the coaches he hired...

He's all about him.

I think that Jones gets his money whether he is coaching or not. It was a buy-out. If I were a coach and still had some productive years ahead of me I would be trying like crazy to land another job. I would want to put the stain of getting canned behind me as soon as possible.

There would be tax issues with the types of monies that Jones is earning. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Or maybe he has not been offered anything. I would be trying to set an example for my family by moving ahead in my chosen career. Not my life and he is a big boy so what he chooses to do is his business.

Yeah the bad thing about that is the AD (Dave Hart) is no longer here. Thank goodness. I see Butch going to a lower lever like Kiffin did. That's the only way he will be a head coach again. But then again the Cowboys were dumb enough to hire Dooley as a WRs coach. Now Missouri has Dooley as the OC.

Mich St might need a coach at an odd time. Same kinda position we were in when Kiffin screwed us. That might be Butch's best shot. He's from that area. Sign him to a reallyy short contract and make him earn the extension.

No. There is a mitigation clause in his contract. Any salary he receives from a head coaching position is deducted from the money UT owes him per contract.
