Car shopping

i really hate car shopping

Go to car and driver and read up on who won their various comparison tests in the segment you are looking in. Also you can't go wrong with one of their 10 best picks.

Also don't rule out wagons or hatches. Great luggage space and better on the road than an suv

maybe I'll just drive my crappy 93 wrangler until the engine falls out

When it falls out put in a Chevy V8 motor. If you have a wrangler now I don't really see the point of getting a new one. Its pretty much been the same vehicle since its birth.

because in the 93 I still need to replace the soft top, transmission, water pump(not hard but still), and it gets awful gas milage, even for a jeep. That thing has been run to death. I could replace all of these things, but what happens when something else goes wrong in the near future? All of the wiring is old, and most of the working parts are old as hell. Beginning of the year I had to replace the rear end, and a little before that the radiator. It's time for a new car.

Sounds like it.

my brother just drove it with no regards to maintaining it. When I got it there had been a rodent living in the air filter for months (I found acorns in the damn filter). It got maybe 10mpg at the time. It has since gotten better gas milage but still.

What's the mpg on that thing? Do you know the towing capacity right off? I like them.

I usually get 16-17 around town. I've gotten as good as 20 on the interstate. I wanna say the towing capacity is listed at 5,000. My dad has a truck we tow with if needed.

I need to read up on them a bit. I've always liked the looks. Is it a comfortable ride or stiff and bouncy, or?

I think it's a comfy ride. It's the only car I've owned though so I don't have too much to compare to.

Mine rides a little bumpier now than it did because I put some beefier tires on it to go play in the mud.

Thanks. I'm wanting something that is 4 wheel or all wheel that can easily tow a mid sized camper. Also, good clearance for the back roads out here. Taking my time and looking at everything, though. Gas mileage is a big plus.

Sounds like it would fit your criteria.. Go drive one.

I will say that I drove one of those Sorentos you posted a few posts up, extremely nice car. I had low expectations but got behind the wheel and was impressed..even though it was a 5 minute drive with my girlfriend's grandma in the car so I took it pretty easy.. lol

I haven't been inside a KIA, yet, but it appears a little small. That might be my hold up on it. May seem larger once I get in one. They have an optional 275 hp engine that gets great mileage. Towing, I think, was around 3500. Very good warranty, too. Might have to try one out over the next few days.
