What does everybody pay for insurance?

I finally got around to setting up the Pathfinder on my dad's Geico account (A mere three months late. Geico had some issues changing stuff out). I've got full coverage and I'm paying close to $300 a month. :mega_shok:

$300 a month thats sky high, I know your young.
Even for a 19 year old driving an SUV, that's high.

Maybe I just need to cut the Pathfinder off for now anyways. Gas prices are averaging $3.50-$3.60 a gallon out here right now.

It's tough to evaluate insurance rates since they vary so much from state to state, but if you've got a clean driving record, $3,600 a year seems pretty high. Instead of making multiple calls to Geico, State Farm, Alfa and other direct writers . . . Call a local independent agent and within about 10 minutes they'll be able to quote you with several different companies and you'll know whether you've got a good deal or not.

To find a reputable agent, go to the websites for companies like Safeco and Travelers and they'll refer you to a local agent.

$110/month through progressive. full coverage on a 2005 Chrysler minivan.

my 15 yr old son currently has a learner's permit, when he gets his full license, my monthly premium will more than triple. if his mother adds him to her policy, it'll just be $1200 more per year.

it'd be nice if you kids were better drivers... :whistling:

Move to North Carolina, lol. When we did our went down half!!! Age makes a big difference and when you get married it does too. We paid the most with Progressive then switched to Allstate. They are the cheapest for us here.

Milo, this is really good advice. Your rate is ridiculous. Do you know what kind of deductibles you have? When you check rates with the agent, have them work through $250/500/1000 deductibles, then decide what makes the most sense.

USAA, full coverage in CONNECTICUT on a 2000 ranger 2WD 4-banger and a 2002 F-150 V6, and i pay $151 per month, full coverage, $500 deductible.

If you're a Veteran, or Active Duty, look them up. It's a non-profit insurance company/bank/investment firm only for Military Members and their immediate families. Best part about it, at the end of the year, you get a dividend at the end of the year to redistribute the funds that went beyond operating expenses and payouts....
