Penn Football Player Took Own Life, Mother Says -- NCAAFB FanHouse

The Penn football program is mourning the suicide of a player for the second time in five years. Owen Thomas, a second-team All-Ivy League defensive end who had been voted a team captain a week earlier, took his own life Monday, his mother confirmed in Wednesday's Philadelphia Inquirer.

I don't think folks realize the pressure these young people have on their shoulders. We think sometimes they're just there (@ school) to perform their sport and that's it. But they have so much pressure especially at that age, academically plus the peer pressure thing is still there, even at their ages. My prayers go out to this young man's family and friends. Such a shame and waste of a young life. God Bless......Commish

I remember reading about Kyle Ambrogi; ESPN.com did an Outside the Lines type story on him. It was pretty sad to read. It's really sad that the school has to go through it again.
