I just put this pic up in Lexvol's post below but it is just an absolute scary thought to me. To think that in another season or so Neyland Stadium could possibly look like this:

Can you imagine gameday in Neyland looking like this? Can you imagine the strip being that bare of tailgators? Can you imagine how badly this would hurt all the local businesses that depend on the football season to make the largest chunk of their yearly profit? Do you really think any big time recruits would want to come here if they looked up and saw pigeons crapping on empty metal bench seats?

This is what I fear if this downward spiral persists.

That in and of itself is exactly why I think that a change must be made with the head coach.

Forget about all the football stuff. We have to have butts in the seats. No other way around it. We are in the entertainment business.

No I cannot imagin this ever...

#1 - That's the ACC and that speaks for itself.
#2 - That's Miami and they don't really care about football like Tennessee does.

but, you have a point about the local economy losing money on lower ticket sales. We are one notable victory away or coach away from a sell out again. Miami is not.

Bro if you think people outside of a quick drive to Knoxville are going to spend food, lodging, ticket expenses, merchandise expenses, and concession expenses to go "Ra Ra Ree...Kick'em in the knee" as we struggle against the powerhouses of teams like Troy....you are dilusional. The VolNation extends beyond a 100 mile radius of the state.

Since we are preparing for a war against the powerhouse of Vandy next week...imagine if Neyland looked like this then....

Home away from home homefield advantage in an S.E.C. team's stadium.

We still get a ton more fans than Miami and STILL don't get top recruits anymore....They do now and then..We will never and I mean EVERRRR be on Miami's level for attendance.

Now your comparing our stadium to Vandy's now ... no comprende.

Did we not have a sell out this year against Florida ? If not it was mighty close ... and we were semi relevant going into that game. The point I am making is Tenn fans only need a glimmer of hope and they will come. Vandy and Miami need miracles .

Miami is a different kind of animal. Most of us are transplants and not originally from South Florida. We're from different parts of the country with much stronger ties to teams elsewhere. Miami is a private institution so 99.9% of the kids that graduate from high schools here do not go to Miami. And the Miami alumni usually don't stay here once they graduate, further weakening the roots of a fan base. As a result, winning is the only thing that will fill up a stadium (see the current Miami Heat or the Marlins during their couple World Series runs) otherwise mediocrity will limit the flip of the turnstiles (see current Marlins, Dolphins, Hurricanes, etc)

We get as many top recruits as they do, and they have the best players in the country in their backyard... We've actually prob had more the last few years.

That is a pitiful sight for a team with such great history in last 30 years. Many times during the 90's I wished they'd had a playoff system because it seemed Miami just had FSU's number.

I am just using the stadium pics as an example. I am not saying we are going to be Miami or Vandy. But we are on their level with how we are performing. I just want you to step back and see what it would look like if Rocky Top hit Rocky Bottom.

I am just saying....this is my biggest fear. I just want people to think about it. If people are going to protest by not coming to games and give up their season passes to protest the nonsense that is going on right now....what if this ditch gets dug to deep? That is all. Just want the visual put in VFL's heads my man.

:eek:k::good!:

Perfectly stated.
I will not drive six hours to feed the mediocrity machine.

I think the turnout this Sat will be worse than last Sat. People are tired if driving for hours and spending money on the product they are seeing. Then Ky comes to town , they might want to hang up the black curtains in the upper deck for that game.
People want to blame the turnout on the fans. Pretty sad.

If we keep filling the stadium and putting money in the pockets of the powers that be then we are as much part of the problem as Cheek and Dooley.

Those are bad examples then. :bottom:

I see what point you are trying to make. "Fire Dooley and Get Us Back to Relevance" . I for one hate watching Tenn get beat and I will admit that. But, whenever I get a chance to visit that stadium on a beautiful Saturday in Knoxville to watch the men in orange play ball. You better believe I will be there. :toast:
