I read on scout. Some men who attended the coaches meeting in Nashville were concerned at the number of African American coaches we had.

Leave it to big mouth Charles Barkley to stir things up once again for most. He needs to keep his big mouth shut. If, we live in such a racist world. He wouldn't have been making money in broadcasting. He isn't that good!

I don't care. If, our coaches are pink and purple in color. As long as they teach the players discipline, dedication, drive, and to be accountable in both football and academics. As long as we compete for SEC championships on a regular basis. Which will result in playing for National Titles on a regular basis. Again, I don't care what color our coaching staff is.

Gosh....we have a African American president. Most of the athletes in the USA making millions are African Americans. Most of our athletes at UT are African American. Why? Because UT goes after the best it can get, regardless of color!!! UT was the first team in the SEC to have a African American QB. We have had an African American Head Basketball Coach. UT is not a racist institution, PERIOD!!!!!!!

We got turned down by Garner. I hope their are more qualified African American coaches we can hire. I would love to have Croom.

I don't want to listen to the race comments anymore. It is getting very old!!! I am not racist. I don't like people who are. I think most white people will agree with me.

Also, I am an avid Steelers fan. I have been for 31 years. I love do the job Tomlin is doing. I could care less that he is African American. By the way, I loved his comments to the reporter about being evaluated by his players. 'How is your editor?'...LOL

I agree with you but some people will not be satisfied until there are "enough" black coaches (and head coaches) in college football. How many is enough? Well I guess that is up to the enlightened ones.

Racial issues will never go away completely. There are racist in all groups of people, be it white, black, or whatever. The main issue to me is when will common sense return to the forefront. Some use the racism issue to get an unfair advantage, while others use race against people because they are racist. Each case is an individual situation and should be judged as such.

racial issues will always be around because people play the race card and always claim theres racism, therefore the people are complaning about the problem, therefore if we eliminate the people complaning, we therefore eliminate the problem

We will get past it but not in our lifetime.

40 years of general acceptance and progress isn't enough to make the 200+ years of slavery, forced incest and societal exclusion all hunky-dory. And that's just the official end of slavery. Presently, people are divided more by the color of money. But racism still exists on all sides of the equation.

I prefer to think of it like the national deficit.... You may be debt free, but everyone owes.

I know that it can be incredibly annoying to hear people claim racism and to have people exploit the stigma of racism for their own gain. But it's a byproduct of what actually took place. They feed and exploit that mistrust that still exists.

It's gonna take time.

Are you saying racism doesn't exist?

Sounds to me like code for "Let's get rid of the people I'm racist against, and I won't have a problem with them anymore..."
Or if you give him the benefit of the doubt, he's drunk (therefore)...

I don't owe anybody a damn thing, except to pull my own weight as long as I am able bodied.

That's all they owe me in return.
