admit that Southern Miss was in no way a quality opponent? They just tanked at home against an absolutely putrid Rice squad.

I admit it. I thought it would be a quality non-BCS opponent... because usually they are the class of Conference-USA (not saying much, but at least it is something). But the more I see of them the more I realize they are pitiful...

Although, their starting and backup QB's are out.

Yeah they suck, we beat 'em by 20 and Georgia is next on the horizon. Moving on, brother.... :)

I don't care if you're playing a majorette at QB, losing to Rice is a disgrace.

I believe I told you so a few weeks ago.

so we played two top 5 teams and got our a$$ handed to us and two below par teams and played okay....UGA game should be quite interesting....

What we thought would be a quality opponent going into the season turned out to be the equivelent of Mars Hill and it's a damn good thing too.

Did you know their starting QB would get injured, then their Backup QB would get injured in practice?

I knew that with or without any player on their roster their were/are not appreciably better than Troy. Since then, Troy has beaten Oklahoma State, the Vols lost by a greater margin to Florida, and Southern Miss lost to Rice.

That Saturday gives us a chance to capture our first victory of any significance this season.

They weren't any good with the starter.

I bet he would have given them a lot better of a chance to win than their 3rd stringer. He is the catalyst of their offense. Whether or not it is a good one is definately up for debate but it still matters.

Rice coming into the game was the worst team in the country by BCS standings i believe (or whatever they use to determine the 26-119 rankings). As far as the best wide receiver, its subjective. Id have to say the best wide receiver is playing in oklahoma atm.

Well at least you were smart enough to wait until the game was over this time. Kudos! As if it weren't obvious that it was only a matter of time before you created this thread anyway. Congratulations, you're one of thousands of people who knew Southern Miss wasn't a quality opponent.

FWIW, Rice entered today ranked #111 out of 120 on my spreadsheet.

S. Miss couldn't beat an 0-4 Rice team. What does that say about us?

I think it says alot. ASU just got past Memphis to. We have played 2 good teams this year and everyone seen how that turned out :bad:. I think this Sat. will say alot about the way this program is headed. If we lose this game this Sat. I think it might wake up some of the big money folks that hands Mike H. a check every year. :dunno:

Not arguing that they're a quality opponent, but it's hard to win any game when your QB throws 7-8 picks. That guy only had about 9 total minutes of good football all night.

USM's first string qb was nothing to overlook, he ws better than the kid at Mississippi State and probably better than Blake Mitchell.
