Can we hold on to this recruiting class??

Based on the listing in the current committs thread, it appears a fair number of this class are early enrollees. This means that the base of this class will be on campus soon. It makes me worry much less about it all falling apart.

Yes, it will most definitely hold together. As others have stated, this group of recruits are very dedicated and bleed orange. All of the legacies are the glue that's holding this class together plus others are doing their share of holding things together. This is the most dedicated group of recruits that we've had in a long time. Not only are they talented but they are smart and understand that this will be a process and want to be a part of the "Rise To The Top" era.:twocents:

Let's face it, this is what really matters right now. What are the thoughts on this?

WHen they committed, they knew this team is not very good. They didnt expect us to tear it up this year. Of course they will stay

As it stands, if coach Jones can get a better player, yes they will over recruit. We can sign 30 this year, but I see them shooting for 35 to 40 commits. That will mean some current players may be asked to look around, and that will mean some of the current commits may be told to look elsewhere. Do I like that? Not really, but coach is in this job to WIN, and the only way that happens is to have the absolute best players as is possible. I'm sure they have a plan in place to make this all work out

Not how it works sadly. SEC rules allow each class to only take 25 recruits a season. Backcounting and early enrollees offer loopholes to get that number up, which is why we can have 30. However a class of 35-40 is impossible. As long as we're still under the 85 man scholarship limit, I doubt any current players are asked to look elsewhere. However through attrition (half of Dooley's classes) and random medical events (Justin Meredith) the 85 limit seems to always have a way of sorting itself out.

PACKERVOL said that some current commitments, not current players, might be asked to look elsewhere. There is no theoretical ceiling on the number of verbal commitments, only on the number of actual signees, which, in our case, will work itself out to about 30, including back-counted early enrollees.
