Can we at least agree on this?

Here's hoping that the game is not decided by a debatable officiating deicsion!! EITHER way!

I'm hoping for a deciding field goal. Those seem to favor us, a bit.

I'd rather just lose by 10 than have to complain that a questionable call in the last minute cost the Gators the game. Likewise would rather win by 10 than have to put up with whining from the other direction.

Just please be even-handed and use good judgment.

that's to the refs right? cause neither fan base has the ability to do this for this game.

I'd like to see Swain pull a gaffney, just so they know how it feels.

All a matter of degree. Some on here are rooting for their team to win but are willing to acknowledge their own weaknesses and the other's strengths.

I don't think there is as much a chance for the officiating to get in the way of a fair game anymore with the onset of instant replay. I like it personally because it gets the call right. No sense in a game being decided by a wrong call and as fast as the game moves these days, I bet the refs appreciate it to.

This is my point exactly. I don't want to be on the short end of the officiating stick and I'd much rather win outright than have to defend it 5 years from now, or lose outright and have to blame some guy wearing pinstripes who blew it.

I said that in jest. I agree I would rather be steam rolled than lose by 1 to a bad call.

i think anyone that knows anything about football, even at the most basic fan level can see that both teams have weaknesses, and who ever can take advantage and force the other team's hand will likely win.

For us, i think our lack of a real running game and poor run blocking is a weakness on offense, and on defense, i think you have to look no further than the injuries we suffered last week to find two big holes.

For you, offensive line and lack of running game, and i still think Leak is not great under pressure. that was proved last year ,and there are still question marks as to how much, if at all, the offensivle line and running game will be against the SEC caliber d's your getting ready to face.

on paper, the strengths:
TN: pass protection, qb, receivers, TE's. Secondary, LB's
UF: WR's, qb. front 7 on d.

Special teams may be a push...

i really think this game, the more i think about it, has the makings of a really good and entertaing game to watch...neither team can afford too many mistakes, and turnover margin will be key.

Here's hoping that we throw a pass into the endzone as time expires that bounces off of Meachem's helmet and falls safely to the turf for a TD!!!

As for the poor "clock management" in 2004. Teach your WR not to punch the DB and it wouldn't have even been a problem.

I'm not gonna lie, I'll be happy with the win no matter how it comes. I'd much rather live with whining than I would a loss.

Can't wait till Saturday Guys. This is going to be an old fashioned slobber-knocker as Keith Jackson would say. I think we deffinetly have a shot to knock the mighty Gators off. But the D is going to have to steps its game up. We are also going to see the best Defense we have seen so far so i am excited to see if this offense can produce the same type numbers they have in the two earlier games. I think Ainge has turned the corner and looks like , dare I even say it, "A Heistman Canidate". He has played his tail off and looks like a completly different quarterback. We will see Saturday. I think this game could go many different ways. But i like the Vols. We will See. :) :dance2:

Ainge WILL NOT win the Heisman. It is a two horse race between Troy Smith and Brady Quinn. Ainge is playing by far the best he has in his career, but he has a snowball's chance in hell of winning the Heisman.

i agree...and i hate to even say this....but he's put up great numbers thus far and will have 3 huge games probably on a national stage...he throws for 300+ against UF, UGA and LSU...he could get an invite.

but that notwithstanding, i think he has no shot at the end of the day, and it is a meaningless debate. Smith and Quinn are the frontrunners and it will likely come down to who plays better in thier biggest games...OSU vs. Mich and ND vs. USC....

Exactly. If Ainge gets an invite to New York that will be an accomplishment. Maybe he could transfer to (insert team not named Tennessee) and he would have a chance.

I just hope he doesn't pull a Gaffney.

I think instant replay has a place in the game, but I don't think either the Gaffney play (I don't think the evidence on replay was incontrovertible-enough for an overturn)or the Baker play (judgement call on personal foul) would have been overturned on review.

I know Ainge doesn't have a chance. I just think the numbers he has put up and the the way he has played he deserves to be mentioned for the "Heistman". I was not an Ainge fan last year at all. But i will admit this kid has the tools to be an awesome quarterback. And he has been that so far. Granted, It is a long year and we will know more Saturday. But I think after two weeks into the year his name should be mentioned.

Also i don't care how we win. A cheap call, It doesn't matter to me all I want is the "W". If we do get it and can stay healthy you had better watch out. These guys have something to prove this year!!

My goal for the team this year is to leave the UGA game 6-0. If we do that then we will win the East and have a very, very good shot at making a BCS bowl. I know that is a big IF, but that is what I think is needed to have a very good season.
