This came up in several threads talking about Jalen Hurd..people mentioning that hurd or some other player or coach wouldn't take a picture with them. My question is this..

For the love of christ why would any adult want an autograph of another adult or to get a picture taken of him standing next to someone of public note? What is the purpose? So you can reminisce about the time you rudely bothered someone you didn't know and badgered them to take a picture with you? Why does an emotionally normal person want a picture of himself with someone he doesn't know?

I just don't get it..I have always thought that adults asking other adults to sign their name for them was childish but the asking someone to take a picture with you just takes it to another level. It is not only rude in my opinion it is frankly weird.

So maybe someone can explain this need to get a picture of yourself with a stranger to me.

You are going to get flamed for this post, but I completely agree with you. I've never quite understood either. But to each his own, I suppose.

Egos, just like selfies. Do you NOT know what you look like? It's a "Hey, look at me" generation. Too bad they can't link some real-world accomplishments to go with them.

Wow, you made it first page to trash Millennials. Nice, except people have been doing this since there were cameras and autographs.

Yeah, before phones..there were these things called cameras and people would get their pictures taken with celebrities...either you are one of those people or not. There is no explaining..

This seems like something that doesn't belong in the football forum.

Edit: Here, changed my post.

This seems like something that doesn't belong in the football forum. But since it's here, I don't see the problem with what you're talking about. If someone asks nicely then whats the big deal? For that person it was probably the highlight of their week and a nice conversation piece later on. I had my photo taken with Phillip Fulmer and I was holding a football that he signed for me just before that. He was on tour with the USO and that one moment made that entire deployment worth it, great guy to talk to btw. But maybe I was just being childish.

Conversations involve words..did you think people wouldn't believe you or something if you told them about the time you met fulmer and had a nice conversation with him?

No I used it to prove a point, that one moment was awesome for me. The great guy to talk to part was just what it was, me saying he was great to talk to. Are you assuming these people don't have conversations with the people they want a picture with? I'd bet most,if not all, at least thanked them for their time.

In fairness yours is the mildest form of the behavior I am talking about..I mean they're there specifically for other people to meet them..it is the whole reason for the tour..to meet and have a moment with a famous person..wouldn't be my thing but I sorta get that although not really the picture but whatever..not rude behavior at all.

what I am talking about is a situation where you are waiting 2 hrs for the team bus after a soul crushing loss to bother a staff member or player to take a picture like he is your buddy.

Or bothering someone that is in public going about their lives..

Well, that could've lifted the spirit of the person getting off the bus in that scenario honestly. But I would think that all they would have to do is decline and all would be well, if they didn't want to deal with that. I say that aware some people won't take no for an answer, those type of people are aggravating.

Edit: That picture will last longer than my memory and be something to remind me of that experience years down the road.

If you can explain to me how to upload a pic on here I'll do it. I can't figure it out for the life of me.lol

Edit: I assume you were talking to me.

lol, sorry man, I was just offering, tongue in cheek, why a lot of folks want the photos...

To post a pic you have to have it hosted online, I use Imgur a lot, so you can provide a url to it by clicking on the little 'mountain in a square' in the toolbar.

Some people also have kids who look up to these players that they see on TV every week. My kids ate it up when they got to see players a couple years ago after a game.

It's simple really. Someone makes a great post about meeting "X" at a bar or some other place, and shares a really fascinating story... and then 70% of the posters respond with "pics or gtfo".

I figured it was but I would've done it. Honestly I wanted to know how to post a pic because there was a stretch where every time D4H posted something it was screaming for an ironic meme.haha
