Jimmy Hyams reported on SportsTalk that Tennessee is one of the three finalists for big man Theo Davis. Considered by some a top #25 player, Davis is a 6-10 220 lb big man who could bring the inside game that Tennessee desperately needs next year. He earlier committed to Texas but did not sign with them. He mentions that Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinios are his 3 favorites. North Carolina has also been rumored to possibly have some interest. Davis averaged 17 points, 15 rebounds and 8 blocks as a junior at Cardozo in New York. From what I can gather he moved to Canada for his senior year and did not play organized basketball.

It would be HUGE if we could land Davis. The chatter elsewhere is that he has become enamoured with Iowa State. It would be tough for me to go anywhere else but UNC if I weren't the Volunteer Homer that I am.

UNC is out of the mix!!! Just went to a UNC recruiting website and it confirmed that they will not be offering a scholarship to Davis. It may very well be down to us and Arkansas. Illinois would be the third horse in my opinion because Bruce Weber has never developed big men since he was a coach. Didn't have them at SIU and certainly didn't at Illinois. I will anxiously await tomorrow.

I think that he is announcing tomorrow night. An article said he would be doing it on Friday night. I assume they are talking about this Friday... :dunno:

I don't think he has visited but I think Scott Edgar and Tony Jones have been in contact with him.

SO do we have a chance? I don't want to get worked up over nothing.

Don't forget Maurice Thomas 6-8 Post from Philly who will be in town this weekend for a visit 33 rated PF by Rivals. He said if he liked his visit he could commit but he also has a visit set up with UNC the next weekend.

NC has their sights set on another kid for that scholly. He's visiting UNC this weekend. I suspect if UNC signs the other kid, we have a chance. I don't remember the name of the kid visiting UNC this weekend. Will see if I can find it. His name is Uche Echefu (not kidding) from Maryland. UNC is all over this kid. He stacks up as a very similar player to Mo.

Mo Thomas may be our best shot and the best player. Pearl has a sales job to do this weekend. Git 'r dun Bruce!

There are some other interesting angles with regard to Davis. Another Misses State player left the program today and says he's transferring to Arky. He would take a spot that mighta been Thomas's. Also, Arky is loaded with post and wing players already. He makes 6 players that have announced they are leaving in addition to the 3 that graduated.
