At 300 lbs?
According to SI.com's Don Banks, there are "rumors" that JaMarcus Russell has ballooned to close to 300 pounds since last season ended.

I think he is gonna be a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf. He had some dang good WRs at LSU that made him look good.


The Raiders would of been better off drafting Brady Quinn

Wow, the guy hasn't even gotten to play half a season and you're naming him the next RL. Key word in article: Rumors. RL was his own worst enemy and was an extreme head case. That's what led to his downfall. JR is more level headed. Sure, he had great receivers at LSU, but someone has to get them the ball.

If you dont know how this going to turn out already, you have missed a lot of football over the past decade. JaMarcus will be backing up someone within a few years, at a team that matters very little.

The Pillsbury Throwboy is a 300 pound backup and just won a Superbowl. David Garrard, while 50 pounds lighter than Russell, is also 6 inches shorter.

Is he the next Jared Lorenzen? 300 pounds? The raiders will be the only team in the league where the kicker and QB could play on the OL. He must be hanging out with LenDale White.

Oh, how does that tie in with the irrelevant JaMarcus Russell? Because him and some kid in Jacksonville are built similiar? And the other part of his argument about the backup for Eli? Seriously, those guys mattered?


Look, hooray to the Giants for winning the SB but whoever was on the sideline wearing a headset, ball cap, and shoulder pads, standing next to the Qb coach matter very little.

I personally think Russell will have some success at Oakland.

Not a lot but a little. You can't really sack the guy. I've seen him in person and it's very frustrating to see frickin DEs bounce off of him.

He does not have a functioning brain. If we are comparing folks how bout this? How can we forget when McNair came in to the league and it took him 4-5 years to learn the playbook? No seriously, yall thought the Houston Oilers drafted that kid and sat him because (fill in the blank with some lates 30's early 40's white guy) as qb was better athletically? Not in a trillion years....but McNair has the IQ of paint chips.

By the time this kids gets some sense about him, some new up and comer when replace him. Of course this wont happen untill the knee surgery, rotator cup surgey, hyper extended legiment ect...... He better not blow all his money is all Im saying.

Anybody ever hear the urban legends of JM being able to throw the football from endzone to endzone? I recall hearing that, but all I could find was evidence of a 60 yard pass from one knee during a sugar bowl pregame.

He damn near did it against Notre Dame in the bowl game two years ago.

I have never seen a display of arm strength like that.

You are about 60% correct on Steve McNair. He took quite a bit of time to learn the offense but there were other factors there. Quarterbacks like him take a while to adjust to the game because they have relied on their mobility too much in high school and college. The best thing that ever happened to us as Titan fans was Steve's injuries. It forced him to look for the throw first then pick his spots to use his legs. I see JM being the same type of guy. He does have a leg up on McNair being that he played in the sec and saw good speed on defense. Between that and seeing more complex defenses in the sec will make his transition a little easier than Steve's imo.

Being stuck in Oakland doesn't help his cause either. How much longer can he sabotage his team? I think I remember hearing somewhere that he is gravely ill. Anyone else know?

I couldnt have said it better Dave. A ton of hype, tons of talent, dumb as a sack of hammers, on a medicore team that no one cares about.....well Chris Berman cares about them.
