Look yes I'm as angry as anyone, but at the end of the day, I'm still a vol through and through win or lose. But our Fanbase needs to come to reality and no that no body is going to take over a major program with a whole new staff from top to bottom, and as Very first year HC and win out! Do we want them too? Absolutely! But we need to know that it's going to take atleast two years. I firmly believe Pruitt will get it done with time, as we see last night he is very Passionate about winning! That's what he wants to do and he will. But if people think we can go every 3-4 years and change staff we will NEVER be elite again! I love this staff, I love this team, and I believe better players is on the horizon for the Vols. So let's as a fanbase pull together get behind it all and help get all these guys to a bowl game. The future is bright at UT!! GO VOLS!!

Cool, then tell that to all the people who proclaimed Pruitt is "definitely the man" and "we now have a real coach!". If it takes time to turn it around, then it takes time to EARN praise.

Did the coaches turn over those 20 something points early last night or was it the players, you have to remember these players are not this staffs players, they are doing the best they can with what they were left! If just all the players were as Passionate as Banks, we would be a better team!

This place was full of people proclaiming how talented this team was and it was all Butch Jones being incompetent and now that we had a "real coach", we would do way better than everyone thought.

4 games and 2 blowouts later, now this place is acting like we never had the talent. It can't be both, either our talent sucked or Pruitt isn't doing a great job. But even if you are 100% it's the talent sucks, then you're basically saying nothing can be judged on Pruitt until he gets his players in. Which means nothing negative OR positive can be proclaimed about him.

So my point still stands, Pruitt hasn't proven anything yet, so pardon me if I don't crown him yet.

I hear what you're saying, but "I believe he's the man and "he is the man" are totally different statements..

If you're splitting hairs. But even still, I'd have to ask why said person "believe" he is the man, because it's still based on nothing but pure faith.

If the players come out unenergetic, that's on them. If you have to be taught to come and and be pumped to play Florida at night in Neyland... you're playing for the wrong team.
Coaches play a role as well. Weve seen the same team exit the tunnel for a month. The coach should know how to generate enthusiasm.

So he is supposed to prove himself in 3 games of his VERY FIRST HC Job? Ok give me a damn break!

This really comes down to these first four games and what we have seen. I would like to see a team come on the field and look fired up and ready to play. I mean, they didn't look like they were ready to play again...against Florida!!! I can understand starting out looking blah vs. ETSU and UTEP--games we should/did sleepwalk through and still win. But the 2 big games (WVA and FL) we looked the same as well and just looked like a tired, flat, uninterested team....that is what concerns me. No fire in their bellies....no desire to win (or so it appears). Just......nothing.....

I think we all understand this. But the offensive playcalling was nonexistent. Calling runs up the middle constantly with 8 Gators stacked in the box on defense is dumb as hell. There's bigger problems over there than just not having the players.

Questioning fans at this point is just comical.

Sad we cant understand that a few people will rant dumb things on.the internet when.they are mad.

You can play a competitive game, and still lose. What we saw yesterday, was a UT team, that was less competitive againsta worse opponent than the one we saw in week 1.

That's not a good sign, and our recruiting class for 2019 and beyond is not going to hold together if we suffer blowouts to every SEC team we face.

i'm just sick of us always being the ones that have to be patient and it's gonna take time.

didn't take UF any time to come in to Knoxville and put a beating on us.
3-4 years ago, we were 3-4 years away. well, here we are 3-4 years later, and we're still 3-4 years away.

awesome. and that has nothing to do with Pruitt. just the state of TN football in general and what the fans are being asked to do....again.

No, and he's not to be dubbed the "man" before he proves anything either; which was the point but somehow I didn't think you'd grasp it.

Also, maybe stop preaching to people about how we're supposed to think and act after we've been through 3 coaching duds in a row over 10 years. Just maybe some of us are tired of being asked to be rah rah cheerleaders all the time.

That's what I'm saying, it shouldn't have to be generated. These kids have been playing all their lives to get to these moments and then you run out of the tunnel disinterested?

Great coaches come into bad situations and make an impact. Nobody thought this would be easy.
The fact is UF also won only four games last year and fired their coach. Last UT outplayed UF at their place and lost on a Hail Mary. This year UT looked completely inept.
UF had the swagger last night. So, Mullen definitely influenced this shambles of a team more than Pruitt. That’s obvious.
How is the future bright? I see nothing positive.

I don't think anyone thought we would win out. What we expected to see was a well coached and prepared team. They expected to see improvement and some development of players.

Now I'm not saying that this team isn't well coached or prepared, really hard to tell right now but I do think it is fair to ask that question, especially on offense.

I expected this to take Pruitt 3 or 4 years, the problem I think he has is that what he inherited is worse than he thought. He's going to have a very tough time keeping this train on the rails. I'm not sure he's going to be able to hang on to or get the recruits he needs to make this happen right away.

Keep in mind we haven't even got the worst part of our season, and no I'm not talking about the coming three game stretch. We expected to lose those games. It's the three conference games at the end of the season that are going to be the toughest. We will be looking at a three win season, if we catch a break, which doesn't seem likely, we have an outside shot at 4 wins. That is going to be the tough part.

Our best hope is that we can hold the recruits we have and add another body or to we can develop. But that's going to be a very tall order for Pruitt, keeping this team from turning on itself has to be his #1 focus. If he can do that and show some improvement next year we may be ok.

Not convinced yet but not ready to give up.

Exactly, and I'm sick of the self-rigtheous "holier than thou" fans preaching to everyone how they need to be patient, especially when most of the time they were the same people screaming down others in the preseason who were saying we wouldn't be good this year. Or yelling at others after the ETSU and UTEP games who said we still didn't look great. Now we get an ass kicking and they're all like "Stop complaining, be patient!"

The players were enthused...

Hard to keep that enthusiasm when we self destruct and the crowd is taken out of the game...
