Can anything be done to change the regime?

I understand expense but Football is a profitable sport. It does not cost them more to host and play the game then they make. If you think it does you are sadly mistaken. Alabama and Oklahoma spend more than 3.5 million a year just on head coaches. Yet we sit by and watch our program become the worst in the SEC.

By the way math and physics happen to be my strong point seeing as how I have a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering.

By the way Lady Vol basketball holds it own. Sell out crowds for a program that can compete nationally EVERY YEAR!

Well Dr, surely you know that there are more than just 3 sports at Tennessee. Yea, the basketball programs and football are self-sufficient. But that's it. Every other sport at UT operates at a loss, and football pays for it. It would be impossible to list the expenses for all of the non-revenue sports. The football program also spends more than any other school on recruiting because high school football in this state mediocre at best. It would not surprise me at all if the athletics department over there just broke even every year.

Anything by us fans... what will it take?

brainstorm! how can we be heard?
With the current economic situation and MBA Mike Hamilton projecting a 10% increase for this year gross, along with state tax revenue sliding and faculty positions being cut, fans not showing up to games, somebody better notice. It will get worse. The question is how far will the powers that be let the program be ran into the ground.Who wants to play for a losing program?

Well, We could hold a Manson family like vigil outside Neyland stadium and shave our heads and carve T's into our foreheads and sing songs and talk to the media about how the world of UT football is coming to an end but that in the end a new revolution of UT football will emerge from the ashes and will be the greatest thing ever and that Butch Davis will lead us to the promised land once again :dance2: Or something like that :search: Got any better ideas? :neener2:

About 3 days before the Northern Illinois game my sister called me and said she had 4 tickets to the game. She told me that I could have two of them that she got all four for free. I told her point blank that she couldn't PAY me $100 to go watch them struggle against Northern Illinois. I said I'll voice my displeasure by not showing up when I can.

She has only been to one game before that game and it was like Wyoming a few years ago. She said she wanted to go for the atmosphere and the majesty that going to Neyland brings. Going to see the Vol Walk and getting fired up before the game. I told her that she wouldn't see any of that "magic" because of how this year was going and she wouldn't have a good time. She told me I was crazy.....

Last Sunday she called me about 9:00 AM and said I was dead right and she should have listened to me. She said its just not the same and they were just sweating bullets hoping NOT TO LOSE to Northern Illinois. She said there was no fan emotion or much excitement on the Vol Walk. She told me she wouldn't go to another game as long as things stay the same. I've already been offered 2 freebies to Mississippi State this weekend from someone I work with. I turned them down and talked to them this morning about this whole situation. Now they aren't going to give the tickets to anyone else and are going to voice their displeasure with the organization with two empty, non sold, seats.

I can't fault fans for wanting to go to a UT game on the cheap. Just be warned - if you have been before - its not the same. Its not what you have been used to - the atmosphere is gone.

Well, if the Athletic Dept. is only breaking even then Tennessee has even worse problems then we thought. Use simple logic to know that can not be true. If they were only breaking even then they could never give anyone within the dept a raise. They have to have money to operate therefore they must also make some profit margin to operate from year to year. I know that there are other sports at UT just like at every other school. I graduated from Auburn University in May of 2005 so I know exactly how SEC schools operate. Answer this then, if Tennessee is breaking even then how does schools with less seating capacity and smaller crowds make enough money to pay their coach 3.5-4 million a year plus keep their other sports afloat. Alabama is only known for its Football, Gymnastics, and Softball. Tell me how they do it.
