What is up with this?

East Carolina:
FootballCoachScoop has BREAKING NEWS and the FIRST TO REPORT that former Texas Tech Defensive Coordinator has been hired by the University to
be the new Head Football Coach. Announcement expected at 5 pm EST.

Oakland Raiders:
Sources tell FootballCoachScoop that Raiders Head Coach Tom Cable has been offered a job by USC Head Caoch Lane Kiffin to join his staff.

Im interested to see who these 5 "mystery" men are. This DC search is almost as bad as the HC job search.

May have misspelled was just going from memory...Alabama guy...LB coach I think. Saban recommended him to FSU for DC. Sunseri maybe.

Joe Barry's specialty is linebackers. We already have Lance, I think we need a guy whose experience is on the DL. That takes Schumann off the list too (also, I wouldn't say UAB's defense is all that great - near last in the NCAA in YPG). That leaves Bob Sanders... not bad.

Lance's real speciality is DL...he can do both. He coached D line for a long time.

No...Barry and Sanders have been mentioned from other sources before this. I am not saying they are the leaders...just there is more smoke around their names.

We do not want Bob Sanders, he is the reason Green Bay got BJ Raji. He's a horrible defensive coordinator.

Yeah Barry is my pick. Sanders is old. I am not sure Sanders would be horrible in college football. He would probably do well. He is certainly not a NFL DC stud.

I was reading footballcoachscoop board when I noticed the blurb about sanders probably getting let go by chan gailey. I sent his name to the AD department with a question mark... now I`m not the only one bringing his name up? If they get him I`ll be sending up prayers that he succeeds or I will feel I was responsible for messing things up... I just wanted them to look into it. Really!

And can people stop bringing up garner? I`m sure they have looked into that one! Maybe he is looking to get a raise but the staff ain`t feeding the ploy. I`m glad kevin steele got a raise. I think if it weren`t this terrible timing we would have gotten him. This timing may have aided all you cutcliff detractors. As a matter of fact I think we would have gotten calhoune if the timing was better. I`m glad we have dooley. He seems like a person who is a stickler for details (being a lawyer tends to do that). Back to garner... don`t have anything against him personally I just smell an agent in the background here rather than actual interest.

Sal Sunseri was the defensive line coach at Carolina for several years. He decided to come back to college for an easier shot at climbing the ladder. Trust me, he's one heck of a coach.
If we aren't going to get someone like Smart, Steele, or Johnson, I'd rather go with this guy over the other NFL position coaches.
Then again, I'd probably rather just go with LT.

I am not a Scout subscriber either so I do not have the inside info you are looking for. We do know that Joe Barry, LB coach of the Buccaneers is being considered. This would in my opinion be a terrible hire. His only stint as a DC was catastrophic (2008 Detroit Lions).

I like the idea still of Tommy Spangler. He was considered initially but was interviewing for the Tech HC job. Sonny Dykes was hired instead. The LA Tech board shows that the fan base down there loves this guy and really wants him to stay. Here are a few Spangler quotes from the Tech board:

"You gotta gear that s*** up, you gotta be like, VROOM, VROOM, VROOM!"

"Hey Anderson, I hear you broke your scapula? Anderson you know what happened to me in college? I broke both my scapulas! I learned how to tackle with no f***ing ams."

"You guys just can't get the signs right . . . so you know what I'm gonna do! I'm gonna start bringing props out on the field with me! For smoke blitz I'm gonna stand on the sideline with a big fat stogie in my mouth puffing away! For storm blitz I'm gonna bring an umbrella out there and just hold it over my head! Then for dog blitz I'm gonna bring a dog on a leash and just throw his a** out on the field! Then ya'll might get the signs right!"

"Work your balls off, you shouldn't have any balls after this, because you worked them off!"

This guy has the fire and in my humble opinion should be considered as a legitimate candidate for DC. Here is a link to the board where I got the info:
