I have run into this on Gator boards and they say NO.

The first college I applied to was UT and got accepted but couldn't afford the tuition, my father was in the Army and home was Missouri. I went to Mizzou for two years and finished my degree with Maryland while in the Navy.

I posted the UT scores on my eraser board on my dorm room door while at Mizzou, watched all UT games I could find while in the Persian Gulf while in the Navy, Moved to TN after I got out of the Navy and proceeded to attend 5-7 games a year while I lived in Nashville. I am back in Missouri and fly UT flags on my car and wear UT attire.

Am I not a true UT fan?

Dude, are you a fan of UT or not? You don't need someone to tell you if your a fan of a team or not. But i say yes.

Thank you, I know I am but to some it seems if you didn't graduate from the university then you are not a real fan.

Thanks I know I am a UT fan to the core. I just wanted to see what others thought. Hell I graduated from Maryland and pulled for UT in the Peach Bowl.

this is always a stupid argument with a ton of flaws

someone needs to go in their forum and ask them if they seriously think that everyone that wears blue and orange on saturdays at ben hill griffin stadium are all alums.

if you're a fan of a team, you're a fan of a team. simple as that.

So just because UT didn't have the field of study that I wanted for my career I'm not a real fan? BS

Are those you refer to the appointed judges of true fandom with absolute power to convey said fandom on whom they determine worthy?

Exactly. thats like saying if you havent played for the Chiefs or Titans or whomever you are not a fan of that team. A fan is a fan, an alum is an alum.

Well if that's the case, I never should have spent that time in the USMC and I would be a 'real' fan :(

I guess there would be no fans under the age of 18 either. Unless they were "Real Genius" fans.

I didn't attend College, I'd like to see them tell me I'm not a fan of TN. This is just silly.

I am not a UT alum. I was born and raised in east TN and still live in east TN. I am a hard core UT fan! If the only fans were alum, then I think they would have a hard time filling the stadium each week.

I have no problem who a person is a fan of, just be a fan of that team and don't bandwagon hop!

I applied to UT just to see if I could get in and I did but I had the Hope scholarship in GA so it didn't make any sense to leave the state so I went to Georgia Southern. Which made the '04 win over UGA phenominal since everybody down there are dawg fans.

I know guys that have graduated from a university and they aren't the biggest fans in the world. The biggest Bama fans that I know haven't spent a day on Bama's campus.
