Vol Twitter verse, emails, phone calls, etc. supposedly prevented Schiano from becoming our Coach.
I will admit to being a little part of that with an email to the administration.
That being said, I wonder if there are any examples of a fired up fan base “INSISTING” that their school hire (or at last inquire about) a specific Coach.
I can’t really think of that happening before but I’d love to see an all out effort by the Vol fan base to let our administration know that we would love to see Coach Freeze come to Knoxville.
Tell them that we don’t care about his Ole Miss baggage. Liberty (built on forgivenes) did so. Are we more moral?
Freeze is a proven winner in the SEC.
If we don’t get him, then he will beat us every year at SCarolina While Pruitt continues to learn on the job.

“if the followers lead, the leaders with follow” - somebody smart

Lol, this may be the post of the decade for several reasons, being accurate isn't one of them.
Just being honest, I don’t think most of the fans would’ve fired fulmer mid-season. That pissed off a lot of big boosters. Then they made a series of horrible budget hires. Sure, it may be easy to say that we could’ve fixed it if it was our choice, but it’s be damn near impossible to do a worse job.

I would absolutely love to bring in a guy like freeze. If I were former I would first quietly inquire about urban Meyer. Just reach out to his people and say we view him as the ultimate rockstar rockstar hire and if the money was right would he be interested. If he were to say no...then I’d sell out to get freeze. It will be so disappointing if sc or auburn gets him

Only way fans can affect decision making is to stop buying tickets and merch...

The money stops coming in and the admin takes notice...
Folks have been saying that for years but it won't matter because it's called The UNIVERSITY of Tennessee Football not Tn Football. If folks were to stop funding then the University would just cut funding of the football program causing us to try and compete in the SEC on a paper thin budget. I dred the day one of our yahoo fans starts a GoFundMe to buyout Pruitt, lol, that's going to be a trainwreck.

I just don’t see Freeze becoming our coach as long as Fulmer is here. He seems to want to be the moral police when it comes to hiring coaches. The more I think about it, Fulmer was a very risky choice for AD. People often say that his biggest weakness as a coach was not being able to hire top notch assistants, as well as being unwilling to fire assistants that he was loyal to. So we basically hired him for a job in which his biggest weakness is his main responsibility. Add to that the fact he had no administrative experience, and you get the situation we have now...Pruitt has a huge buyout thanks to the recent raise/extension, and the contract doesn’t even include an offset provision if Pruitt lands a new job.

If they aren't going to be serious about the product they put out, then maybe it should be cut..

The fans can help get a coach fired. But cannot at all control who actually ends up hired barring most unusual circumstances. Schiano Sunday was probably the only time that's ever happened. It only happened because politicians got wind of a way to win over some potential voters and applied political pressure to UT.

But, but, but Voltweeter caused all that...

Fans can get coaches fired by not buying any of the product. That means no merch, not going to games, not watching it on TV. That is near impossible for most of us.

Vanderbilt gets the same share of the bowl and TV deal money from the SEC as Alabama.
It is far from an insignificant sum.
Boycotting games hurts the local businesses in Knoxville far more than the UT Athletics Department.
The Cancel culture is seldom well thought out and is often detrimental to the innocent .

The old “let’s boycott the team until a new coach is hired” idea is hilarious. Fans will still show up and buy merch. That’s why they are called fanatics. Maybe not packed stadiums like the 90’s, but enough will show up. The only people affected by a UT football boycott are the few miserable fans sitting at home refusing to watch or wear UT gear. The rest of us will support the team rain or shine. Sad but true

Turning your back on a program that has no respect for it's fans (customers) is not cancel culture.

Would you continue to spend money in a restaurant that had crappy service and bad food every time you went?
