For months we have all-I would think at least-been waiting for something/anything to get the NCAA and the media out of Knoxville. Week after week it was one story or anecdote after another about what a dumpster fire the men's athletics department was. Now I know they (NCAA) have been on this since July, or even before that, but God bless ESPN and their warped ethics for sitting on this story and releasing it at the height of Auburn's run and taking any more Bruce Pearl "barbecue" stories off the front page.

<Raising my glass> Here's to you Cam Newton and ESPN. For all of Volnation, thank you. Cheers.

It's great news if it's true for Bama. Also anyone else recruiting the same players Auburn has. Stick a fork in that program if it's true, they're done.

Regardless of this new development at Auburn, espn hates Tennessee more.

Interesting how Auburn's recruiting picked up so much in the past couple years... coincidence?

And this might be the only time I give Kiffin credit.... but perhaps this is why we never went after Cam Newton very hard?

I was thinking the same thing in regards to Kiffin. He seems almost too arrogant to pay someone. Thank you, Lane.

I think just about every school is convinced the sec hates them . . . Then they cash their check.

If I remember correctly, Kiffin was debating between Newton and Simms real hard. His biggest issue with Newton was discipline. When Kiffin dropped in on Newton to watch him, it just so happened that Newton was suspended for something. It po'd Kiffin that he took the time to come and didn't get to watch him.

The worst part of this whole situation is that if Newton gets suspended soon Bama will pound Auburn and probably go on to win the SEC, and quite possibly get a shot at another title. Grrr....

Auburn was going to get worked in Tuscaloosa anyhow.

This is bad for anybody who took a serious shot at picking Newton up.

Anywhere in the top 25. Maybe even top 10 depending on needs. He's a better prospect than Tebow-much better mechanics as a passer-and a better arm.

And Nixon wasn't good for Democrats...:peace2:

I think GAVol had it right. If I were to continue with your analogy, I'd lump the whole SEC together as the "Republicans." The SEC has been riding very high recently, has talked a mean "best conference" game, and has seemed to attract the largest percentage of super-talented athletes. We've been arrogant about it. With Tennessee in trouble, a couple other SEC schools caught up in Agent-gate, and now this... I would think the NCAA would be pretty keen on taking the SEC down a peg if the opportunity presents itself.

Are you implying that Kiffin had the kind of character Dooley seeks?

How do you get that sentiment from his comment? He hated that Kiffin didn't recruit Cam harder, no he understands it. What the hell does that have to do with CDD?

Well if that was indeed sarcasm, I stand corrected. I guess I should have known better, it's not like anyone around here would ever blow something out of proportion...

What was I thinking!?!

You probably weren't thinking, but just looking for a chance to pimp Dooley.

Dooley will either succeed or fail on the field. He doesn't need a bunch of cheerleaders to get that chance. He has it. And, even if he loses the last four games, I doubt whatever I post here would matter.

In fact, i really don't care if he loses the last four games of this season since he should focus them on rebuilding for next season. And, if he does that, and recruits a decent class, the W-L record this year will not matter to his success or failure.

Next season will be a tough one for him as well.

So far, I think he's doing enough to keep his job. Yet, I would go ahead and fire Hamilton, so that if someday a replacement for CDD is needed, the new AD will have enough time to find his way around the Hill to make hiring a proven coach easier (e.g. securing whatever funding and support it takes to hire, pay, and retain one).

Just a thought, with all the stuff going on with agents and SEC players, now Cam Newton - which this was supposedly reported to the SEC - is it possible that the NCAA could launch an investigation into the governing body of the conference? aka Mike Slive? Just curious has the NCAA ever investigated a conference for lack of institutional control?

Well...........at least Cam Newton can now "BUY" all the laptops he wants with $200K....but that would kill the thrill of stealing them.

This is no good for anybody.
I completely disagree. Anything that casts the pig farmers on the Plains in a bad light is very good. They are trash and should be exposed as such at every opportunity.
