Your defense is pretty much intact this year, but you did lose Javon Hargrave. How much of a loss will he be?

"We have a guy like Dan McCullers who I think he is in his seventh year and this is his time. He either becomes our full-time nose tackle and we can supplement around him because we have guys like Chris Wormley, Isaiah Buggs and Tyson Alualu, who can play multiple positions. We can supplement him with other guys, or does Dan trickle back?"

Guess I've been under a rock for a while. Who are these people and what school? Sad but serious.
McCullers is an improbably large defensive tackle who played for us like 7 or 8 years ago. I didn't realize that he plays for the Steelers now. I don't know any of the other guys.

McCullers is VFL - he was a JuCo transfer for us under Dooley and then played for Butch as well, so he was here only two years. Ended up being a 6th round pick for the Steelers in '14 and has hung around with them since. This is his teammate talking about him having the opportunity to step up this year for Pittsburgh.

It's remarkable that he has managed to stay with the Steelers this long. It's been a constant waiting game for him to turn the corner and become a consistent player.

I think McCullers plays more this season simply because they don't have any other options. Run defense he's ok but typically horrible on pass rush. I can see where he plays run downs and then Alualu slides into the NT on passing downs.

He's a guy that got on a school bus once with the rest of the team as they drove to Johnson City to practice on a high school field and watch Remember the Titans every night in their NAIA dorm rooms.

Two or three years ago, we had about 5 Vols on the Steelers, with McCullers, Dobbs, Ramon Foster, Cam Sutton ... maybe a WR, too.

Justin Hunter spent what I believe was his last NFL season on the Steelers.

From the 2018 Steelers Panthers game.

McCullers was inactive for the game so he missed out on the photo op

Not in my case, but this is a great comparison to wedding day and married life for some that I know. Unfortunately with some, you see the GIF first...

The problem for McCullers is that the game has evolved with the pass friendly offenses so much so that that there aren't really "run downs" anymore.
