LWS commented in several threads last weel about some behind the scenes stuff.

He also said he has detached himself because the administration is not invested in winning.

TN football is just another business to the powers that be now.. They have to make money for other endeavors...
They will hire another coach and fill the seats for another five years, then hit the reset button...

JAV over on TOS can tell you plenty. He’s about the same level of cred as LWS.

In short, the boosters are pretty much all on board finally. Several wanted the trigger pulled last night. Currie is getting his ducks in a row. 100% Butch won’t be the coach next year, but how/when that comes to fruition is still uncertain

Honestly, we have to play it smart here.

If we let Butch bury himself by finishing out the season, then we run the risk of him not landing a quality job. That matters, because it offsets his buyout some.

Butch will talk himself into a good situation, and he will land on his feet, as long as this thing doesn't get any worse.

We know what the buyout is going to be, and don't intend to let it go another signing day to lower it.

There is zero reason not to fire him right now if the plan is to fire him at all. The money you save by waiting a year is not enough to make up for the money that will be lost if this continues. By the time November gets here, they will give away tickets for free.

Likewise, if they fired him now and got a head coach in here that is a "name," you better believe season ticket sales would go out the roof. THIS should be the time that we could get a quality coach. The roster is amazing and loaded with talent, and we are poised to win. Should attract a winner.

But we need to get on it.

Set a standard Currie.

You think Butch will be a HC next season? I can't see it.

He's going to be in the ESPN, FOX, CBS, or NBC studio collecting his buyout and getting his ducks in a row for whatever his next opportunity is.

Oh absolutely. He will land somewhere, if for nothing else, his recruiting. He's a proven recruiter. If he can snake oil a lower school into giving him a shot, he might could recruit enough talent there to make himself look good again.

His pride wouldn't let him NOT coach.

IMO, it needs to be between now and the end of the Alabama game. If it is later than that Tennessee runs the risk of one of the young QBs catching fire against weaker competition and giving Jones a little bit of ground to stand on and start back with the cliches. If that happens the pumpers will be in every thread with a fire hose. Do it now and if that happens it is under an interim coach and everyone agrees Jones was the problem.

He needs to be fired by Monday. Letting this drag out has no positives and only gets us closer to that early signing period with a huge reason for our top recruits to jump ship.

Now I know we won’t get a new coach before the end of the season anyway, but you may as well cut him loose, name an interm and show the world you are looking for a coach that can win.

Sadly though I see this getting dragged out, then if we manage 6-6 they give him the bowl game, that gives the people in charge an excuse to go cheap as all the top options are snatched up right after the season, and we end up with another Lyle/Dooley hire that they pump up as the guy they wanted all along and they get another 4 years of fans spending money for mediocre at best product
