It's time to step up young man. Use this time wisely! Get bigger, stronger, faster. Work on your reads, footwork, and delivery. This team is yours to lead next year!

I liked most of what I saw from the kid last year and I think this year of watching will pay dividends next year. Ready to see a QB scramble for a first on 3rd and 3!

UT is due for clutch QB

You're kidding, right?

Dobbs wasn't even given any 1st Team drives in the Spring. He's the only competing QB that didn't get a single one.

It was clear from then that the staff was going to RS him come hell or high water.

Dobbs, no matter what he does or did in 2013, will not see the field unless Worley and Peterman both get injured.

Staff is selling this year out to preserve next year. I really do think they'll RS Blair, Dobbs and Scott unless they absolutely need to play them.

He did say "next year."

And the biggest irony here is Fergie Ferg pitched a fit over losing the job to Worley and left.

He would probably have the job now. I firmly believe he would have come in against UGA and done well enough to keep playing. No way he would have done worse against Florida and Ferg could actually run which would bring credence to our no-read option.

I think CBJ and Staff told him before fall camp that they were going to try and redshirt him. So yea.... that would explain alot.

The staff isn't going to let him work with the 1s at all this year.

He won't be able to prepare for next year if he's working with the practice team scrubs.

I'm sure next spring he'll get plenty of first team reps considering we'll have no QB.

Whether you get first team reps or not, you can study hard, work on your mechanics, and get stronger. You can better yourself in many ways besides throwing to 1st team WR's.

Weren't FERGIES academics a joke? So he probably wouldn't have been eligible anyways right?

If we have another outing on offense like we did in the UF game, Hell and High water has arrived, and it's time to burn Dobbs redshirt.

He is still the best fit for Bajakian's offense. I personally hope they burn it against UTC and play Dobbs most if not all of the game (to not only give him game experience and to evaluate him, but to give Worley a rest from the beating his OL is letting him take)

I don't know how the Aerospace Enginneeing program works, but I hope he's able to use this year to "get ahead" so to speak. I can't imagine his course load plus football is easy to juggle. I wonder if he can bank some extra credits this year.

My nephew is an Engineering major at Tennessee Tech and he said the first 2 yrs are the hardest because of all the calculus/math required for the degree. Would seem to comport with the emphasis on RS'ing Dobbs. Let him get the most demanding part of his course-load out of the way.

Don't fool yourself people. Dobbs lost #2 position due to erratic throwing during summer drills. Peterman was a far better passer - noticeably better than Worley. Worley hung on to the job due to his experience and game management skills.

As well as Jones has recruited almost every other position, his two biggest busts to date have been Dobbs and Blair. Exactly the two positions at which we are most desperate for help.

The lovefest by some here for Dobbs is hilarious. Look he may end up being a decent to good QB but right now he's simply not good enough.

Aside from one thing...he will actually run the ball. Pretty sure he can also throw off his back foot just as well.

Brilliant move, calling for the 3rd string qb to start or has the dropped farther down the chart?

I do think Peterman got a raw deal with the 2 games he was thrown into.

And Worley has shown his experience and game management skills are lacking, IMO.

I wouldn't mind seeing that either, but I'd rather not have a Dooley move burn a year of eligibility with a mobile qb while we are still looking for four more wins to become bowl eligible. UTC has a couple of big bodies on the DL in Davis Tull from Bearden and a UGA transfer Derrick Lott. The OL should handle them, but don't be surprised if either of these names get called several times on Saturday.

Dobbs is not a bust. He showed plenty of potential last year, and was hands down the best QB in the Spring game. Not even close.

Cannot count him among the staff busts, at this stage. He will do just fine.

Plan is for Dobbs to Redshirt. He may end up starting this year, but it would do us a lot of good for us if he could redshirt this year.
