After watching tonight's performance by Bama's defense and Dooley losing his coaching staff, the ship is apparently sinking.
Hire Kirby Smart. Just my take fellas. We are headed in a deep depression era of Tenn Football. Sorry for the Debbie Downer post. Just thinking bout the state of my football team.

[FONT=Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif]If you slit your wrists horizontally (meaning in the direction of your wristband) you've got to saw through a lot of tendon and gristle to make even a small hole in the artery--and if you miss the artery, you'll succumb to old age waiting to bleed to death. If you go vertically, however, and hit the artery properly, you can make a much larger hole in a much shorter time. Not only do you start bleeding sooner, but you bleed faster, making it less likely that your discoverer will find you in time to save you.[/FONT]

I see one of the most dominant defensive teams in college football in my lifetime. I see Alabama, a team left for dead 5 years ago, win its 2nd national championship in 3 years. I see a kid from Nashville win the Outland Trophy for Alabama. I see the enormous talent Alabama has, has coming back, and the awesome recruiting class they have coming in.

On the other hand, I see Tennessee fans freaking out over a defensive coordinator hire...because there is nothing else to do but put blind hope into a coaching hire, when this program is so downtrodden. No bowl game, losing season, losing defensive coordinator and best recruiter, most dynamic player coming off a torn ACL, a recruiting class falling apart as I type this post...desperately needing a DC hire by this weekend, to solidify big defensive recruits, and get uncommitted guys on board.

Our programs could not be any further apart. We are a dumpster fire, Alabama is in the middle of a dynasty.

We'll be back. Bama went through coaches until they found the right one. We have to wait and see if Coach Dooley pans out. If not, on to the next.

Did anyone else notice the Hyundai commercial where the "third Saturday in October" was mentioned. It reminded me of my wife suggesting dates for our wedding and the typical responses I had to give her in a political correct sort of way. (TN was still a top ranked team year in and year out back then.)
