Some cat fans seem pretty confident. Do you feel there is ANY way this could happen? I see zero logic in it, but I know there are more knowledgeable posters on here.

If what Kentucky fans were "confident" about had happened two years ago, Billy Donovan would be in Lexington and Anthony Grant would be in Gainesville.

I think they have to make a serious run at Donovan, and have to hope they get him.

If Plan A fails, it's going to get ugly and embarrassing.

I dunno Brian, there are several here that seem to know everything.... about a program they really don't follow. I know this because they always say its a fact. *insert rolling eyes*

We shall wait and see what happens.

Funny you actually think you have a shot at Calipari. Or atleast you act like it's not out of the realm of possibilities with a post like this.

It's a bit harder than you think to steal big time coaches from programs even if you are elite. We weren't able to steal Butch Davis from UNC (just rumors atleast) and UNC football isn't in the same league as Memphis basketball. Stop being delusional here.

If you actually read my post, it says nothing of Calipari. I am not saying that we CAN or WILL steal Calipari, because that WOULD be delusional. I don't think we are getting Calipari. All my post says, is that there are many here who like to coin phrases such as " 0% percent chance" or "not gonna happen, I can assure you, its a fact." When quite frankly its nothing more than OPINION. They know these things about like we know when the world will end.

People acting as though they know all of this is more delusional than anything, quite frankly.

Saying things like " I hope UK does not get Calipari, and I THINK its a 0% chance" is much more acceptable than the above mentioned.

I know what you said and looks like you were careful not to mention anything like that. But you left your post wide open in the fact that you're trying call these guys out for claiming there is 0% chance (which there is). Why bother? It happens on every message board but because it happened on this specific coach and this specific subject you felt compelled to post about it?

You and I both know that as well - so why even call them out on it unless you have a small hope inside you that thinks you get him? You obviously opened and posted in this thread for a reason. I don't think you would have called anyone out in another thread where they act like they have inside info and consider it a lock.

"about a program they really don't follow" and "We shall wait and see what happens" were enough for me to think that you believe a bit you actually have a shot at Calipari (even if it is a very, very small shot in your mind). That's the way I took it - just trying to put 1 and 1 together.

I apologize - I'm being picky tonight but I still think my argument holds true. :p

I was doing a little reading on CatsPause, and they seem to think that Billy D is a done deal to UK, and Anthony Grant to UF. They say that's why Grant didn't sign a contract with Alabama today in the interview when he was apparently offered. Anyone buy that?

If your referring to my comment about MM, those sentiments have been around long before tonight. MM turns out to be right alot of the time, but he screws the pooch quite often too, is all I was trying to point out.

"We shall wait and see what happens" is not a " You wait and see bitches, we will get Calipari" statement. lol Its more of a "Why act like you KNOW whats going to happen when you don't have the foggiest idea".

I DO feel in my gut that Calipari has an INTEREST... perhaps not desire... to coach at UK. who knows. Maybe Memphis screws up and wins a title this year, (small chance). Who's to say that with a title under his belt and an open checkbook from UK he would not consider coming?

The chance of him coming is probably 5% or less, but I don't feel like its a 0% chance as most predict.

Of course they will undoubtedly interview calipari this week after the announcement and he will deny any interest, but what else is the guy supposed to say?


I know its a message board and its ALL speculation by posters who are not in the "know", and thats what makes it so fun. But share it as an opinion, and not act like your God. I get enough of that on the UK boards, and hoped it may be different somewhere else.

My whole statement in my original post was sarcasm, aimed directly at those who fit the bill described above.

Yeah, I buy it. Much more than Pitino or Calipari rumours. 2 championships at Florida for his resume, and two straight NIT runs at Florida... time to jump ship to the "promise-land". *insert irony here*


I can see this happening because Florida is done for the year, and negotations have had the time to take place. Any other coach on UK's list would not be communicating right now, even through back channels. In my opinion.....

John Pelphrey and the Hog's season is already over as well. Hopefully those communications have been taking place for awhile now. :)

Yea, I agree. It sure seems a lot more plausible than Calipari to me. I think it also explains Grant's hesitation on the Alabama job. It will definitely be interesting.

lol. I will literally drive to lexington and blow Rupp Arena to pieces if they were to announce Pelphrey as coach. The guy holds a special place in my heart and all UK fans, but he is not an elite D1 coach, at least yet. This would perhaps drive me to drinking.... more than I already do.

The rumor that makes since to me is the Coach for Oklahoma State, Tim Floyd. He has the Pitino connection. Donnavan stays at Fl., Cal stays in Elvis Land, and there is NO chance Pelphrey gets a whiff at that job.
