He's landed Kamal Hadden, Rickey Gibson III (over UGA), Jordan Matthews (over Texas), Boo Carter (over Michigan), Marcus Goree Jr, Kaleb Beasley (over Notre Dame), Ty Redmond (over Ohio State), Dylan Lewis (over Clemson), Jermod McCoy, etc. He's done fine and has won his fair share of big battles lol

He’s done ok, we have to start landing at least one top50 corner. A plug and play guy that always end up in Athens, Tuscaloosa or Columbus. And you may want to check OSU recruiting class before we can say Redmond has a green light to commit to to OSU(ps I like Redmond).

Not a bust, Gibson actually looks like he will outplay his rating. Matthews has a little more work to do, Mike Matthews worked him like a full time job this spring. I have high hopes for Beasley as well, considering he had a lot of INTs in high school.

Oh I know. Me and some others on here have. Even saying how bad Martinez has been but some won’t see it. They like to bring up oh he has put blah, blah in the NFL. I mean for crying out loud the guy has been coaching for 30+ years. But it seems like because Willie is a TN coach that Heupel wanted, we all much love him.

Our secondary has been the weakness since Heupel got here. And Martinez is a big reason for that. He warn good when he was here the first time.

Agree that we haven’t landed the same caliber CB as UGA and OSU and Bama that come in and dominate right away. Nobody really has outside those 3 teams.

Alontae Taylor was a completely different player under him. Kamal Hadden was obviously good. GJL did his job and is looking like he might make the Titans squad right now. That’s 3 in 3 years when he was put in a rough situation. Let’s not count freshmen not being all conference players against him lmao

Taylor and Hadden were really only two corners that were here that he trusted on islands which made it tough as they avoided big play. I think McCoy and Gibson have shown they can play on islands to an extent already and will be trusted to do so at least more especially with the pass rush.

Personally, I think those games with Hadden showed what kind of defense they’re looking to run and they finally have personnel on all three levels to run it, it feels like

Well Heupel and Banks can’t see it either since they convinced him to come back this year. He’s on the edge of retirement. Secondary has improved every year. Again I’m not saying he’s elite. We could upgrade but we won’t at least not with a known guy. Someone currently on staff will be promoted. I doubt he comes back after this season honestly. It’s possible we have him for two more. I think Banks gets a job somewhere as a HC, Inge gets promoted, Martinez retires, hell garner is probably getting close to hanging it up as well if we’re being honest. Think Inge will be rebuilding the staff in a few years if Banks moves on.

I am not a big fan of Martinez either. I just keep remembering all those big coverage busts against Florida back when Butch was here. Martinez's coaching/recruiting probably costs us more than any other coach on staff.
