Defense looked good outside of long TD runs and TE catch and run for TD.

The bend but don't break attitude didn't apply today.

Thankfully the good guys overcame the special teams mistakes and long TD's.

Go Vols !

4 started off shaky on defense but the second half he played alot better… Hadden is easily our best Db I still want to see Charles or turnage starting opposite of hadden… I’m curious as to why we don’t see turnage more.

Resilience!

How's that Neyland Maxim go? Something like if things don't go your way at first pour on the steam!

Charles only had 2 snaps in the game?

Hadden isn’t. I’m ready for Charles to replace Burrell.
I don’t know if Charles is ready. He looked awful last week. If you’re frustrated by Burrell playing too far off, Charles was twice as bad. I rewatched the game a couple times to focus on different groups. So when I watched the secondary I noticed Charles waaaay off when his man would catch it. Never had a PBU or even close to a play

There were at least 2 DBs between him and the goal line.

The receiver was in the neighborhood of three defenders. I don’t remember exactly who. The shallow one was beat on the turn to the outside. The one on the right looked like he had a bad angle once the play turned. And the one on the left was a few yards back in the end zone.

He would have been about five yards off the catch. IF the receiver was hit in stride, he would have had three yards to the goal line and it didn’t look like we would have been able to keep him out.

That was my take seeing it live and on the replay. I’d have to go back and look at it again to see if my perception was exactly correct.

I was pretty critical of the defense in the first half. Mainly because they give up everything across the middle. A lot of busted coverage out there.

But there were some real highlights. Run defense. And the pressure we brought to the QB(s). It’s much improved from last year.
The only problem I see is if we finish the year as a top 50 defense we will be looking for a new coordinator. If you can coach a group from 100+ to top 50 while on a team with the fastest offense in the nation teams will come after him, zero doubt
