Bye Week Recruiting

With the team on a bye week, Lane plans to use half the time on the recruiting trail. One of the trips include watching JUCO QB Matt Simms out in Cali. Does anybody know who else Lane and staff are planning to pay a visit to see?


NOTE: This thread will expire on Sunday as the team fully prepares for the Tide.

Lane and the Staff have said that they would be recruiting the two JUCO QBs during the bye week, Matt Simms and Cam Newton. Other then that I'm not really sure who is they will be targeting.

Bruce Irvin, Kenbrell Thompkins, David Mahoney, probably more.

They may give up on Irvin due to academic concerns; it is tough to get into the SEC if you have academic problems in JUCO. USC just gave him the "I'm sorry" word due to his academics.

Yes, but I don't think the staff will give up on a talent like that so easily. I think we will at least try to get him on campus. He did originally commit before he even saw the program so that might go a long way towards switching him back.

We got so many DE's and he's originally a LB; he wants to play pass rush.

Coach Kiffin and Coach Gran will be in Miami, FL Monday morning to stop by North Miami HS to check up on Ted Meline, and visit other Miami, FL Tennessee commits Jose Jose, Delvin Jones, and Delvin Jones.

They need to be coaching and practicing if we can beat Bama then we wont have to work as hard to get commitments from players. IMO

not sure we want Matt Simms. Couldnt cut it at Louisville. Seemed to be scared of a little competition... Plus hate his brother.

If Kiffin and Co.are going to California to recruit. Im sure there check in on Bray. And hopefully get to talk with Uko.

are we taking this week to pay Kenbrell thompkins a visit?

If we have to take Simms to get Thompkins, Im all for it.

You got to wonder if they are going to checkout Jeff Luc while they are down there as well.

Uko eliminated us, would be glad to get back in.

Shaw, Wright, Shirley, Riley all have not eliminated us, and would be fantastic.

Shaw is all but committed to OSU.

We do have a good shot at the other 3 though. I think we get Riley unless USC puts the press on him.

CLK and Gran will be in South Florida tomorrow. Looks like they are going to visit with a certain linebacker down there...
