1. somebody needs to tell me what targeting/defensless player really is....cause i saw Evan Berry turned in to a sack of potatoes after getting hit square in the face mask on a KO return, yet it wasn't even discussed. and yesterday....#30 for Bama is straight up head hunting, 2 x's in a row, and it's "good play". aTm player delivers a block, and he's "got to go".

no bias here really, i just want to know what the heck it is. seems very inconsistent week to week.

2. was it me or did Alabama's offense look an awful lot like Tennessee's offense yesterday, especially in the 1st half? i thought they moved the ball well between the 20's, especially running it between the tackles. but once they got to the redzone, it was like they forgot what they were supposed to do, and Hurts all the sudden looked VERY AVERAGE as a passer. he's still got work to do in the pocket. reminded me a lot of Dobbs last year at times.

lastly, i though Lane went away from the run way too early. not sure why, sometimes i think he's too smart for his own good. they were getting 5-9 yards a carry up the middle. i would have just kept doing that.....

3. Bama's defense is sooo good. especially the front 7. they just don't miss tackles. seems like everybody in that front 7 has a 7's wing span and they can just smother you.

4. i think fully healthy, the game you saw yesterday is kind of the game you'd of seen last week.

5. i struggled last night...do i root for the upset, or do i want Franklin to remain in a hole? still not sure if i'm happy about PSU winning that game. i am happy OSU lost....if that makes sense.

6. can we now put to bed this notion that Ole Miss is still a top 15 team?

7. South Carolina is not very good.

8. GA fans taking solace in Richt losing now 3 in a row.

9. is Auburn really for real??? damn. that was impressive.

10. KY / MSU was a sneaky good game, and once again, KY can't stop anything.

11. MTSU....did i read that right? MO...shame on you.

12. my top 6: Bama, Clemson, Michigan, Washington, Louisville, Ohio State,

GBO, beat USCe....

Its really discouraging teams like WVU all the sudden are playoff contenders because they play such an easy schedule. I mean they almost lost to BYU amd K state and they beat an unranked TCU team and people are starting to hype them up. They really only have Texas and Baylor left on their schedule. It just makes me wonder how TN would be perceived if we played a schedule like that.

Along with a definition of targeting, a crown of the helmet definition would be great, too.

The big 12 will take care of itself. I'll be surprised if a big 12 team actually makes the playoff.

South Carolina showed some signs of life yesterday. Should be a good game Saturday.

Bama may lose to Auburn. Maybe.

That Arkansas-Florida game looks a lot different now than it did a week ago.

Michigan is NOT the second best team in the country, but will be ranked there today.

Washington is legit for the first time in 20 years.

I've been saying this for years. All that tough schedules talk is garbage. A win vs. A HS team looks better on your resume than a loss to Bama. At least to the committee. Just facts.

Uh, they play Oklahoma too. And Ok St in Stillwater. They likely will not come close to winning out, but if they do, they will be deserving.

I watched that game yesterday. They play like a much better coached team than us. And, I like Butch, but it is regrettably true. And their defense can actually tackle.

Is it just me or is the Ric Flair quote the most over used saying on Volnation

The problem with the targeting rule is that there's no clear, universally accepted definition of targeting. If there were, then the officials in every conference would be better able to call it consistently instead of stumbling and fumbling all over themselves as to whether a hit fits the targeting violation rule or not. Some conferences have officials who seem to get it right most of the time while others have officials who get it wrong most of the time. It's almost laughable that the officials on the field, and the replay officials as well, are either unable or unwilling to flag a violation such as the one or more in the Alabama - A&M game that the millions of people watching the game on TV would tell you was a clear targeting violation.

Maybe they should start allowing the booth official to initiate a targeting call instead of only confirming them?

Bama passing is a weakness. Just difficult to expose because their run game and defense is so good.
