Honestly, it'd probably be Gage and McCairens again assuming he's not cut...sigh...
I think Hawkins will be good, but I also think he is very much in the Derrick Mason-type mold, meaning development-wise he's not going to be ready to be a full-time starter for 4-5 years, hopefully sooner.
But also, combined with the loss of Brandon Jones to SF, the titans will have to sign or draft a WR at least for roster-requirement / depth purposes
Davis...I guess was depth purposes and he was supposed to be a really good kick returner or something at FSU...maybe they're hoping that latter part will manifest itself in a year or two...
McCareins is a free agent and the Titans honestly don't really care and will probably let him leave. They may re-sign him, but it's a small possibility and it will probably be as a third or fourth receiver if they do. I think they'll just let him go though.
I agree with waiting on Hawkins. But yeah I don't think the Titans are too concerned with losing Jones and have seen options out there that they like better. I think they're tired of waiting for him to develop and stop dropping passes. And his signing may have started a domino effect because it sent Bryant Johnson to Detroit, making the Titans the front-runner for Nate Washington right now.
And yeah I like Davis as a slot receiver (we had just lost Bobby Wade when we drafted him and I remember thinking Davis was just a better version), but now he just seems like a worse version of Hawkins. Hawkins seemed better as a rookie than Davis as a third-year player, and he can return kicks too. But I don't know. The Titans' front office knows much more football than I do.
