Former Vols Haynesworth signed with Redskins.

He was good, but at least I want have to defend his head stomping incident anymore while he was playing for the Titans.:wavey:

Of course that probably marks the kiss of death for his career.

I hate to see him go there...Washington is just a messed up organization...look at how many high-priced FAs they've bought and look how they've done with them.

I'm not going to come out and say it will be a bust....he will definitely help them, but personally I think it will only impact them greatly over the next 2-3 seasons. I think the contract will start itching with a nasty burning sensation beyond that.

good for him, his value is whatever someone will pay for him
i dont fault the titans either, i dont follow the nfl that close so i am going out on a limb a little bit, but it seems to me most of the time when these guys get the career contract they are never the same player.

completely agree.....a DT who has been in the leauge 7 years doesnt deserve a 7 year contract. Name 3 guys who have been in the leauge for that long and been dominant.

I say BYE BYE glad he's out of the AFC South. He's done anyway, 49 mil guaranteed, he was a pay for play guy. That's why the Titans put the Franchise tag on him last year. They knew once he got his money, he wouldn't be the same.

He's worth what Daniel Snyder's dumba$$ was willing to pay him. I'm sure no one else was within $20 million of that number. That contract is stupid, but if anyone is worth it, he is. All he was really worried about was the $41 million guaranteed. He knows he won't be playing 7 years from now in Washington.

He was clearly looking for the biggest payday though so he's now dead to me as far as that goes. Thankfully he went to such a dormant organization so we don't have to worry about it.

That's only about 100% inaccurate. He's "done"? He's no different than any other player in a contract or franchise tagged season. They ALL play for their next contract and Albert is no different.

He desperately tried to get the Titans to sign him for 2 years and they could have thrown $50-60 million at him over 5 or 6 years either of the last two years and they would have gotten him back.

But as they always do, they let their best players go. It wasn't until this year that he finally got fed up with it and at the end he became all about the money when Washington stepped up.

So how is that inaccurate? You just said the same thing.

Titans didn't want him for $50 - $60 mill because they knew the kind of player he was.

He was all about the money last year as well. We could have paid him that 65 mill he wanted last year but after the incident from the previous year and his long history of being a guy that was hard to motivate it made the best sense for this club to handle it the way they did. In the end whatever we paid him would come back to haunt us later. We offered him more than fair market value both last year and this year and he wanted more, nothing wrong with that but he wanted more than we were willing or even should pay....period!

Do they always let their best players go? McNair, George, and Kearse all left and were never the same. Derrick Mason was one player I think they let go a little to early that still could have helped them. I would have loved to have had Fat Albert back, but not at the cost of locking up that much money that we can't go out and get other players. Have fun playing for a team that has a hard time making the playoffs even though they are the Yankees of the NFL (spending wise that is):mega_shok:.

"Mean" Joe Greene, Randy White, Merlin Olsen, Alan Page, Deacon Jones, Howie Long (actually only played 13 years--not 14). You could add Reggie White if you wanted, though he played mainly DE.

My only problem with this list is just about every one of these guys is from the past era of the NFL, things are much different in the league these days and hardly anyone has that kind of career in the NFL anymore at DT.

McNair, George, and Kearse were already past their prime compared to what the Titans were going to have to pay them. I'll give you Derrick Mason though. I hated that we let him get away.

I think after three or four games the media will begin to see that he isnt worth the money and FAT ALBERT will lay down and hide behind some injury just like Vince Young!

Good list, and true.

However, none of these guys assisted in crippling the financial well-being of their franchises the way that AH has the opportunity to do. This is the kind of move that Daniel Snyder has made (and even he stepped it up a notch here) for several years now and it has not come close to paying dividends in championships.

I'm not even ruling out that AH won't continue to be a dominant force and a HOF-worthy player in 7 years, but financially this move is going to be painful if the 'Skins hover around .500 for the next 2-3 years.
