Good Luck to Buzz..they're on a 12 game winning streak and they've made a 10 game improvement over last yrs team. While it didn't work out for him at UT he's done a great job in his first season at CC.

Poor Buzz. A one point loss. That sounds familiar. Close, but nothing to show for it.

Some props for Buzz though - Myrtle Beach paper says it was their first winning season in 12 years.

They were the consensus pick to finish second in the league. They finished second. Nothing spectacular there. Coastal got put on probation in the mid '90s. That really pulled the program down. They were pretty good in the early '90s.

A Buzz coached team that matches expectations is a step forward isnt' it?
I'll reserve judgment. Let's see where the Chanticleers are in 2-3 years.

I think that Buzz can be a semi-successful coach in that league. He has a better chance there than in a tougher conference.

If his Carolina bretheren steer some players his way, he might be decent. If left to his floor coaching, he's sunk.

Yeah but still, he has a better chance there than the SEC, don't you think?

NC, you can't be serious. Do you actually think that UNC would want to hire Buzz Peterson? :eek:lol:

Sorry, I just don't EVER see that happening.

Just throwing that out there  Hopefully they can keep it in the family though..I was thinking about how Dook was going to be when K leaves since his assistants haven't done much.

This was in yesterdays Myrtle Beach newsapaper.I still can't stop laughing.

Topic for debate: Who has done the better coaching job this season, Bruce Pearl at Tennessee or Buzz Peterson at Coastal Carolina?
People outside the Grand Strand would probably say Pearl, mainly because they know what he has done by turning around Tennessee but have no clue what Peterson has done at CCU.
But if they knew about the Chants' 12-game winning streak, about the program's decade-plus streak of losing seasons and about the players and resources he has to work with, Peterson may be a leading candidate for coach of the year, especially if his team reaches the NCAA tournament with a win over Winthrop today.
Pearl has done a great job in his first year with the Vols, who fired Peterson last year after a losing season. But if you had a pickup game with the starting fives from Tennessee and Coastal, you probably wouldn't pick a single Chant on your team.
Peterson is winning with a 5-foot-9 walk-on point guard, a 6-4 freshman forward as his leading rebounder, a 6-3, skinny sophomore shooting guard who knocks down 3-pointers like layups, a 6-5 junior forward/native from Sierra Leone and a 6-3 senior guard who was all-state in high school - in SOCCER.
If CCU wins today, Peterson will have coached one team to the Big Dance and recruited another. I'll take the diamond in the rough over the Pearl in the spotlight.
