Butch wont settle for less

This article is hilarious when you think about all the posters claiming Butch would be too loyal to "his" guys and that that would be his downfall. So glad it turned out the exact opposite. Azzani is the last one hanging on by a hair.

Player transfer shows Butch Jones' mission to improve talent level

I think Butch got the guys he needed to build the program and family atmosphere exactly how he wanted, then when it came to the point he needed to upgrade, he did. He always seems to be making changes, and that's why Im confident that he will do better with his in game decisions.

He'll also have Debord & Shoop both screaming in the headphones to knock the bush league shiznit off this year. I think he'll be open to what these guys are telling him.

With the axing of " his guys " in the coaching staff I would say with pure confidence that CBJ is focused on one thing. Championships.

Everyone seema to forget sometimes just hard it is to win in this league. We " the SEC " get all the best players and attract the best coaches. Several of the coaches that have left our program are good coaches and will be successful in other positions but in this league you have to be a 1% guy.

People also forget bow big and competitive the conference is now. All of these teams came up while UT slipped down to the point they were fighting a much harder battle. For crying out loud, Butch took over a team that got spanked by Vanderfreakingbilt.

There went my supper! I could've went the rest of my life without being reminded of that.

Wow, I sure am glad to be moving back up to the top where we belong.

We're moving on up (moving on up)
Too the top (moving on up)
To the deluxe apartment....in the sky

While I agree Azzani is barely hanging on, he's dealt with a lot of injuries during his time here. I mean Vic Wharton caught a TD pass in the Taxslayer bowl, hadn't hardly seen the field all year. If everybody could stay healthy this year in the WR Corp we should see some output.

It was a concern in part because some of those guys had been with him a while. Then.... he said he would assemble the best staff in America and brought them with him.

It WAS Fulmer's down fall. His personal loyalties got in the way of his loyalty to the program itself.

But Jones has definitely NOT been that way with players or coaches. He seems to "get it" when it comes to being loyal to the TEAM first and to individuals second.

Jones took a MAJOR stride in keeping his team healthy by making possibly the hardest personnel change of his career- firing Dave Lawson who had been with Jones since he's been a HC.

We had a pretty contentious debate last year about whether the injuries were preventable or not. Some of us argued that practice methods and S&C could be a contributor to an abnormally high number of injuries. Some argued they couldn't be helped.

Jones.... apparently agreed with us who thought a S&C change could help... and it has.

Still not keeping up with recruiting as we're out of the Top 5 again

There are commits that you can quibble with and who might be replaced.

Then you have some guys that seem to be clearly underrated like Fant and Lawson.

I still don't feel good about losing some of the instate guys. But I feel MUCH better after the commitment of Chandler.

Like virtually every other program, there will be some guys that either UT loses interest in or else feel that UT isn't a place where they're likely to be able to compete for PT. As long as the season goes as well as we suspect, those players will be replaced by more talented players.

I think you can throw Brandon Gaddy in as "underrated" as well. A 6'5" 275 lb "athlete" who played WR this summer with his team's 7 on 7 traveling squad? If that's a 3*.... then maybe we should hope for a bunch more 3* players like that.
